  1. I am so sorry to hear this. May the drs. get Ned better quickly. Many prayers.
  2. Wake up. It is a freezing cold spring day here in PA. And to think my golf league starts in 10 days. Can you golf in a parka and mucklucks? We had our 'quarterly' lunch on saturday. Started out funny. We always meet at Kildare's Irish Pub. Well I got there first. Restaurant was closed, out of business. I didn't make reservations since it had never been that busy that we would have had trouble getting a table. So I sat in the parking lot waiting for the others. Kasey and Fred and Colleen and Jack got there and then we waited for Maryanne and Joel. We finally put a small purple post it note (thank you Fred) on the door telling them where to find us. Then find out Maryanne is calling me, but my phone was in my car while I was sitting in Fred's. We all finally got together and had a wonderful time. Everybody looked great, and all are doing well. We went to California Pizza Kitchen, food was good and Fred and I shared a Hot Fudge Sundae. Kasey was on a mission to find a prom dress for her granddaughter - unfortunately, mission was not accomplished. We missed Ellen very much and wished we had known earlier. Rest peacefully Ellen. Judy KW, sending you many wishes to feel better. Judy MI, many prayers that you just have a very long cold. Becky, good luck with your diet. Annette, you need a break. Bud, happy pedalling, wish I had your discipline. Eric, can't wait to see your beautiful country. That's all folks.
  3. Debbie, I am sorry that you have gotten this news. The beginning is the hardest, getting a firm diagnosis and an action plan helps. Fortunately, Phila. has many great hospitals. My husband used both UofP and Fox Chase. I have 4 friends right now with lc. One at Abington, one at Doylestown and 2 at Fox Chase. All are getting good care and doing well. Feeling comfortable with your doctors and confident in their knowledge is important. I wish you the best.
  4. 3 day of spring and I awoke to snow covered lawns, aaarrrggghhh. Bud, if I even thought about riding a bike like you do, I would need a gale at my back to push me, and I would need to be going only downhill. I am so happy to tell you that my 2 favorite women at hospice are leaving, one to a nursing home and one to her home. Why, because they are doing better, isn't this great news. And another woman who I never spoke to because she was basically in a coma, well she has rallied, spoke to me for an hour last night and ate a huge eclair. Small world story, we had a rescue dog there last night, a white boxer, who knew boxers could be white. Well the handler was my good friends brother. Judy, how lucky to have a generator, losing power is not fun. Duh, since I couldn't watch TV, always thought I would read. Just call me Abe, as I would be reading by candlelight. One Christmas my Mother announced that she didn't think she had enough cups for coffee. My sister said, "No problem Mother, I'll drink tea". We loved her none the less. Let's all do a sun dance and follow it up with a good tummy dance for everyone her.
  5. Judy, I am glad you got this off your chest. Yes, I am sure it would be better is this were your 1st line of treatment. But the 4th doesn't mean that a. it won't work and b. that crazy guy in the lab is not about to yell Eureka. So please keep up the fight and please keep your chin up. LC is beginning to get attention, so many people are working to help you.
  6. Oh my heaven, I am opening. Knock, knock, is anybody here? In work today, so I have a lot of computer time, haha. Spring just teased us last week, they are talking snow showers tomorrow night. Was in a panic all day yesterday, couldn't find my volunteer badge which I have to wear tonight. I searched everywhere and prayed like crazy to St. Anthony. Tossed and turned all night. Was not looking forward to calling them and admit to being an idiot. Yep, it was attached to the jacket I wore last week. How are the Judy's doing? Annette, my stepson (who lived with us) was a major problem. Always in trouble. He ended up in an in house treatment facility for 6 months. Unfortunately, I am not sure it turned him into a 'productive' human being and really unfortunately, he died about a year ago in his early 40's. I hope they can help your nephew. And boy, are you squeezed between the 2 generations. Well, I need to enter payroll or I may have some angry people here tomorrow.
  7. Flip flops and capries yesterday, snow showers on Wed. Are your kiddin' me. Into the 50's today. Golfed thursday and friday, this time of the year it is a total gift. Next week we have our DelVal spring luncheon. We haven't been together for awhile, so it will be great to see everyone. Don't know how to post pictures here, but will do it on FB. We will miss Ellen, she was a smart, kind woman. Judy, I remember Earl had the same problem with Iressa. Hope it resolves, makes going out to breakfast kind of tough. Judy MI has to be exhausted after the 10 day 'laugh fest'. Take it easy. Off to get my nails done and then to see the Lincoln Lawyer, although I am not a Matthew McC lover.

Stephanie, I tried scanning through the Phila Inquirer obit section and could not find anything. She attended a few of our luncheons and we enjoyed her so much. I have her tel #. If you like it, pm me. I hope you are doing well.

    Ellen in PA

It is with much sadness that I am letting you know that I just found out tonight that Ellen died last October. I had called her house and left a message about our upcoming luncheon. Her husband called me tonight and gave me the sad news. Ellen was an amazing women. She was a retired linguist professor at the Univ of PA. She was bright and funny and kind. Ellen had made the decision to accept no treatment and lived her way. She will be missed.
  10. Subject: The Golfer He left home around 8:30 to play golf with his friends. On the way out the door, he answered his wife's "What time will you be home?" question with "Probably around 1:30 - I'll have lunch at the club." 1:30 came and went, 3:00 passed, 6:15, still not home, finally at about 7:00 PM he rolls in the driveway, leaves his clubs in the garage, and presents his wife with a pizza, and begins the apologetic story. We finished our game about 11:30, had lunch, and I started home, when alongside the road I saw this attractive girl with a flat tire on her car. I stopped to help, got the tire changed, and looked around for a place to wash my hands. She offered money, but I refused, so she suggested that I at least allow her to buy me a beer. She said there's a tavern just up the road, and they have a restroom, you can clean up a bit. I agreed to stop, we had a beer, then another beer, then a couple more, and I realized that this girl was not only pretty, she was very friendly, and a good companion to spend time with. Before I knew it, we were in the motel next door having sex. And that is why I am so late getting home. His wife looked him right in the eye and said "Don't lie me -- you played 36 holes, didn't you?"
  11. Hi Eric, I love "Is he mad?" Thanks
  12. Wow, so much to acknowledge today and I don't want to miss anyone. Bud, anytime there is a problem with a child it is heart wrenching. I hope they find the cause and a quick fix. My heart is with you. Judy, keep sleeping until you get the good news that we all are waiting for. Annette, I hope your stresses are slowly dropping off your shoulders. Eric, I am basically retired but I work 2 days a week. Provides greens fees. Ok, joke of the day. An oldie but goodie. John and Marsha both believe in reincarnation and in communicating with the dead. They promise each other that if something happens to one of them, the other will try and communicate with them 30 days after. Well, poor John gets hit by a car. 30 days later, Marsha says John, John can your hear me? Yes, Marsha What's is like up there? Well, we get up early and have a good breakfast and then we have sex until noon. Then a nice lunch, a short nap and then sex until dinner. After dinner, we have sex until we are exhausted. John, I had no idea it was like that in heaven. Marsha, heaven nope, I'm a jack rabbit in Arizona.
  13. And Karen we wish you well. I have a dear friend that was dx'd with extensive small cell over 3 years ago. She is not having any treatment right now and has been moved to every 6 month scans. Hope this for you too.

  15. Wow, you are right Randy, Eric is one busy dude. But it is a whole lot better than sitting home being miserable. Eric, I am getting a lot of grief for not planning to play golf when I am in Scotland. I would love to but neither of my traveling friends play golf and for my first time there I would rather tour your beautiful country. But off to breakfast with two of my golf buddies. One of the women has lc with BAC. She had a very bad year last year, but is doing very well right now. Just got back from a month in FLA and is planning to try golf this spring. Let's hope. It is relatively warm here for this time of year but it is a miserable rainy day, oh well, give me the warmth. I hope Judy KW is having good weather and a great time. Judy MI, I have you in my thoughts often. You have way too much stress in your life right now, wish I got offload some of it for you. Your attitude during this time is quite amazing. Off to bfast, eggs and homefries with onions, yumyum.
  16. Ned, I am so sorry about this new development but very glad to see that your docs have an agressive plan in place. So I will cross all things and pray hard for success.
  17. Bud, my son had to stop running in college due to shin splints. So he took up boxing - never went to see him to that - did not want to see someone try and hit my baby. Went to the golf driving range today, it felt great, but boy do I need practice. Judy, bummer about the TV situation. I have tv on all the time when I am home and would be bonkers if they took away any of my stations. Watching the Good Wife from DVR right now. Becky, if we get anymore snow, I will go bonkers again, like above. Hope the mud doesn't come.
  18. Just chimin' in cause I am one happy person. Just paid for my golf membership - wooo hooo - here comes the sun, here comes the links. BTW, have I mentioned how much I like golf? On my way to get my teeth cleaned. BTW, have I mentioned how much I hate to get my teeth cleaned? Annette, my lap top has become so slow I can't stand it, so I started a full scan at 7 this a.m. and it says it will take another day to finish. Hope it works. Annette, we had very similar problems with my stepson. It is very difficult.
  19. Julie, we have a few members that have had Pancoast tumors and may be able to offer you some information. Check out Kasey and Donna G. I hope your Dad finds some relief.
  20. Green is my color today - that is green with envy with Judy FL on the high seas. I hope she is having a superlative time. Beck, my husband tried to blacken fish in our kitchen. We almost had to move out. Found out that you only blacken fish outside or in a restaurant with an industrial exhaust fan. Annette, a slow computer is so frustrating and yet even slow think how much better it is than that abacus we used to use. Judy MI, if you read the list of stress causing situations your life is now topping the charts. Just hope your husband does't start alphabetizing your spices. I wish I could offload some of your stuff. Funny story on myself. My pp was bright yellow. I was sure I was eating myself away from the inside. Finally had the internal fortitude to check it out on the net. Yep, I had added a B complex to my vitamin pool, and guess what excess B2 does? Best get back to work. I only work 2 days a week (I'm really old). But I am so excited, my golf league starts in 37 days. If you are my friend on FB you will see how I am counting down the days. I am anal. Holy cow, pp and anal in the same post. Better go.
  21. I am making an executive decision. (That really means I am the oldest). I vote for 3/26. Please give me a show of hands.
  22. Hi all you Delaware Valleyians, and Lancasterians, I sent an email about a spring lunch. Are we on? Let me know. It has been way tooooooooooo loooooooooooooong. Here are some dates, 3/26 or 4/2. Let me know.
