  6. I'm sorry, I don't think anyone here is hiding anything nor is anyone here not being truthful about hospital's and doctor's. I'm not sure where you would get that idea. If you want peoples stories and who they doctored with and what hospital or clinic they went to, or go to, all you have to do is ask. Most of us have a team of dortor's and all my doctor's and hospital information is posted on "MY STORY" just click up below my signature and you'll fine all my information. I would like to add that it would be helpful if you told us what area you live in and what area your looking for treatments and doctors information. Take a deep breath and slow down we will do our best to help you through this.

    Michael

Dear Paul, I am so sorry to hear this about Michael. My condolences.
  12. Welcome rocknrollpaddy, (what can we call you for short other then "rocknrollpaddy?) Well, I'm not in the age bracket your requesting to talk to, but I was 43 when I was first dx.d with lung cancer stage IIIB and I don't know emotionally or physically if theres much of a difference if your 30, 40, 50, 60, or even 70 years of age when you hear those words "you have lung cancer." It's not what anyone of us wants to hear and it's not what anyone of us wants to go through. But I also can share with you that many of us DO live long and happy "new normal" lives after being dx.d with lung cancer. This IS doable, beatable, and treatable. There are TON'S of ups and downs on this journey, and everyone here can and will guide you through the rough spots and help you up when your feeling down. This is a GREAT place for support and understanding and information. We've walked in your shoes and some of us still do, and we'll share our journey with you to make your life easier and give you comfort. It does get sucky at times, but it also gets good and uplifting too and we do laugh alot and we do care about eachother. Your not just a number here, we work hard to help people through this journey because we care. Because we're lung cancer survivors and lung cancer caregivers. Take a minute and read over my story by clicking on the website below. Sending you GOOD WISHES and POSITIVE VIBES from a FAR!

  19. Well Calintay, That may very well be true and I sure wouldn't doubt you, but I do know that in our neck of the woods, they do still use cornstarch for serious open bed sores. I think a lot also depends on the over all picture of the patient and where the sores are at. The U of MN used it on me. Open sores can be a breading ground for staph infection too. It's a horse apeice I'm sure. Some do things this way, some do things another way. Medical Facilities are all so different in many treatments. I guess my feelings and thoughts for Caren are also comfort related. And having the patient comfortable if they are in pain and discomfort and if the oder is overwhelming. Like I said, I was just offering my 2 cents worth of what they still use here in our area for bedsores and what I know worked well for me and for others. When my mother and sister were in the last or late stages of there lc journey, we did all we could to keep them comfy. I still remember the oder Caren that you mention. My Best to you and your Dad, Connie

    Pneumonitis?

For sinus the only thing I know that works for me and others I've share this with is "warm saltwater" up your nose. You can put this in a spray bottle and it does clean out your sinuses and is completely safe. My father-in-law swore by this and he got me into doing it a long time ago. I've since passed it on to many that swear by it. You can do this as many times a day as needed and it won't harm you. When I started to do this, I was told to take salt and put it in a glass of warm water. Cup one of your hands and pour some of the saltwater into your hand. Bend over a sink and sniff the saltwater up your nose. Be prepared for a little mess and a little shock to the system, but once you do it, you get the hang of it. But, I now have a nasal spray bottle that works well. I was on my prednisone for 6 or 8 weeks maybe it was 8 weeks when I had penumonitis. That was many moons ago for me. But I know I put on the pounds being on it. But it did clear up my lung pneumonitis problems and took away my SOB. As for the sinus issues, are they saying that's part of the pneumonitis? I've never heard of that one before. I sure hope your feeling better soon. I know I have been dealing with some new allergies (something I've never had before) and they haven't been bad, but they haven't been fun either. Salt is working for me. Good Luck and Get Well Soon.
  22. "cornstarch" My mother, and two sisters worked in Nursing Homes and they used and still do use Cornstarch for bed sores, etc. It dries them out and allows them to heal. Creams only keep these sores soft and smelly and open. My mother started to get bed sores and a sore in her groin area near the end of her journey, and we did cornstarch and it worked like a charm. When I had my last heart surgery 17 months ago, I also started to get bedsores and the hospital used cornstarch too. Just pour it on like power. God bless and good luck.

    Pneumonitis?

Hi Donny, I'm sorry to hear your still having to deal with it. I had it too, but my doc's put me on prednisone and that did the trick for me. I had it for about 6 weeks. Maybe they need to up your meds. I know with me, they were concerned it may not go away, but I was lucky enough that it did. I had shortness of breath with it and man did that knock me on my butt being SOB. Hope this will clear up for you real soon.
  24. You ROCK RICH! You the MAN! ((((RICH)))) Your in my prayers daily and your strength carries so many of us through the rough spots. Thank you! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you many many many more years my friend.
