Today i was told that a bump removoved from my left side was a sclc lump that has traveled from the tumor in my right lung. So i am now extensive. The doc's say they will continue the radiation due to the fact that the main tumor is shrinking rapidly. Then they will wait four weeks and do cat scan, mri, brain scan, bone scan, x-rays and pet scan. After that i will go on topotecan for a number of cycles that i don't know yet. This was not what i wanted to happen, but i will do what it takes to beat this damn thing. They sure don't like to paint a pretty picture for us at this point. I want to make them shake their heads in disbelife when i am still around long after the time they give. Mike
  2. Extremely informative and i am glad you forwared this to us. It is almost exactly what is going down with me and i think my docs are on top of this treatment process. Thanks. Papawolfe00
  3. Sorry for the duplications. I had a problem with my computer when i figured it out it posted every attempt. Sorry.
  4. I must agree with the others, drink as much water as you can. The more you drink the easier the chemo is. The radiation i could not tell i was even getting it ubtil the tenth treatment. It won't effect you other than make you a little more tired. I get my fourth round of chemo the week of christmas and they ( the docs.) insist that i get chemo in the morning and radiation in the afternon. Best of luck to you. Mike

  10. I have been having this pain in my side for a while now. It is on the same side as my tumor. I have scls limited with a collasped lower lung nodule. Every time i say something to my onc. they tell me it is probobly the lung opening back up. They have given me some pain pills and tell to use them to control the pain. I don't like taking pills and am very relunctant to take them. However i have had to take them from time to time. Today the onc ordered a chest x-ray to see if i am coming down with pneaumonia or bronchcitis due to a couple of coughing attacks i have had. Has anyone else had this problem with this type of pain? And is it a good idea to use these pills to control the pain? Mike

  12. I am wondering about radiation treatments. I read a lot of your posts and a lot of you get treatments twice a day. Why is it that mine are set-up for once a day and what determines this? I am very ernest in attacking this head on and do not want anything to cause a moment of lost time in which the beast can gain any better foothold than it already has.
  13. I just finished my second round of chemo to day and i feel even less symtoms than the first time. Except for the fact that my hair is starting to thin. Also i do get winded off and on a loy more than i used too. I could still work and do my job though. The docs thought it best if i did not work through the treatment. I did not know how i would take the treatment. Thanks for taking the time to show me your support. I know this journey is still early, your support and knowledge will make it a lot easier. I will be cured! Mike.
  14. I have been told i have sclc with a tumor in my right lung but confined to the chest cavity. All three of my doctors say they can cure me. I am taking them on their word as i do not feel ill. I have had my first dose of chemo and will start the second cycle tomorrow. I have went to the other cancer boards and find them to be mostly gloom and doom. Hope to find this one to have a little more hope. I am 46 and the father of 5 with a wife i don't like putting through this. I am looking for some survivors of this so as to build the hope and faith that i have that i can beat this thing.
