    coughing

i had a dry cough for several months after my second surgery. After talking with others and my doctor about it, we theorized that it might be due to my remaining lung reshaping and realligning itself. I suppose her remaining lobe could be responding to stretching and could cause a cough too. I also have heard of others getting acid reflux after surgery which produced a dry cough. I got codeine for it at one point which helped. Don M
  13. Welcome Lori. I am sorry you have cancer again. I remember when my cancer came back in early 2005 about a year after my upper left lobe was removed and it was harder on me than my original diagnosis. But I got over the depression and went on for more treatment. As others have said, your oncologist should be able to come up with anti nausea meds that work. don m

  19. Yah Linda...I thought my retirement would be different too. I was really surprised and angry when I found out I had cancer. But, I am still enjoying my retirement such as it is and am grateful for the times where I feel good with friends and family. Your husbands' cancer looks like it will be easily treatable and he could have many good years to come... Don M

    Chemo Decisions

I read your "book" with interest Carole. Unless there is some sort of miraculous bifurcation for me where I end up NED or stable for a long time, I may be following your path in the not too distant future. I am not going to chemo myself into the ground. I stopped taxotere after 4 rounds when it became apparent that it was causing severe sob and I had to go back on high dose prednisone to recover. Right now I am off treatment, but I did get stable disease with the taxotere. It has been 4 years since I had carboplatin and I have never had taxol. I will try that if I get more progression, but i think that will be my last chemo. Don m
  21. Hi Jackie and welcome. If your mom lives in the states she may be able to kill off any residual disease with cyberknife. It depends on how many tumors there are and the size of them. It would not be considered a"cure" though. http://www.cyberknifesupport.org/forum/ I think you mom's oncologist was a little too definite too. Don M
