  2. Lillee: I have read of people who went into hospice for a while, but improved and went back into treatment. Maybe your dad should ask for a second opinion. Talk to the hospice people and see what they think. Don M

  7. It sounds like radiation inflammation (pneumonitis) to me. I still have it a year after my ck treatment of a very large tumor. I take prednisone for it and may have to take it indefinitely at 15 mg or so. I was on 15 mg just before I had to go to the hospital last June. They treated me for pneumonia that included a return to high dose prednisone.I tried to taper off to fast when i got out of the hospital last June and had to go on high dose again and taper down more slowly. The inflammation flared up by coming off the prednisone too fast. There are side effects with prednisone so the quicker you can wean yourself from it the better. Don M
  8. Hi Gloria and welcome. I hope your dad's chemo brings good results. I have been taking taxotere and I had my fingers cooled in ice. the chemo nurses told me that if the extremities are kept cool, the chemo will have less access there and so i suppose there could be less hair loss, less numbing of the extremities and less nail changes. Alimta Anyone

Hi Peachy. I had 4 rounds of alimta in the summer of 2006 after 33 rounds of image guided radiation on a tumor in my right upper lobe. the chemo was doable, but it did not stop the tumor from growing. It was stable at the last scan though because of a subsequent cyberknife treatment in 2007. Don M

  18. Marianne: Lexapro and xanax helped me. Last January it got to the point that I cared more about getting rid of the awful feelings of depression and anxiety than I cared about having cancer in the first place. It also helped me to keep busy with little projects and walking helped. I hope you find some relief. Don M
