    TBone update

Hi everybody, My pain had been getting worse and worse all last week.I am taking 80 mg of oxycontin 3 times a day and it finally stopped working. On Friday I was in the most severe pain I have ever felt.My back, shoulders and it seemed like every muscle in my body was hurting.Real bad.I went to the ER and the doctor gave me some fluids and morphine to ease the pain.Well, that didn't work either. He then gave me demerol and it eased the pain a bit.He wrote a prescription for the duragesic patch (the largest dose they make) .I got it filled and came home and put one on.Within an hour I was pain free.I stayed this way for about 24 hours. No pain at all.Yesterday afternoon the back pain started back but wasn't real bad.Last night it continued to get worse. This patch is supposed to be good for 72 hours. My left leg and foot is swollen and my leg started hurting too.I took 2 5mg immediate release oxycodone and it eased.I feel ok this morning but there is some pain. Not severe though.I have an appointment with my oncologist Monday morning. We were supposed to do my 7th taxotere treatment but I am not going to do it until we get the pain under control.I am hoping that I can adjust the patch dosage to something that I can live with.I will keep you posted as things happen.Praying for us all.TBone
  2. Hi, I understand how violated you feel at the house invasion and burglary. In 1973 I was living in Hawaii while in the Navy.We had just returned from a 6 month deployment to the Orient.I wasn't on a ship.I flew so I went to a lot more places than ships do.When we returned to Hawaii, there were 5 or us sharing a house,we all went out to dinner.Gone maybe 2 hours. While we were out we were robbed.Of everything in the house.Including everything I had bought in the Orient,my cameras, and even all my photos and slides. It still makes me sick to think about it.I live in the country now but I have a German Sheppard that keeps people away.Have you considered that?Praying for us all.TBone

    TBone update

Hi everybody, We had a big 4th celebration but I was unable to participate for the most part of it.I went for a while early afternoon and after a nap went back for a great fireworks show.I had,and still do,serious joint pain and body aches.I have scheduled an appointment with a pain management center but cannot get in until the 22nd.I usually feel fine in the early morning and by lunch my back, hips and shoulders are really hurting.I can get somewhat comfortable in a recliner with oxycontin but only for a couple of hours at a time.I am hoping that they will put me on duragesic patches.I have been on oxycodone for a long time and it seems not to have the effect that it once did. Also I think the pain is getting much worse too.Praying for us all.TBone
  6. I have coughed up blood twice in the past 2 months and went to ER both times. Both times was early in the morning and a bright red blood that only lasted for a few coughs. Both times turned out to be bronchitis which was treated with antibiotics and the bleeding stopped within a day or two.My onccologist insists that any bleeding while on chemo should be either seen by him or by ER in the case he is not available. Many things can cause it.Praying for us all.TBone

    Update

Hi everybody, I went for my chemo yesterday and saw my oncologist. He agreed with the ER diagnosis of bronchitis causing me to cough up blood over the weekend. The blood is gone now,,thank God.He did put me on two weeks vacation from chemo so I could regroup and try to gain some weight.I started feeling a lot better when he told me that.Last week on chemo was hell.I think mainly because of the congestion and bronchitis though.Praying for us all.TBone

    anger...

Hi, I have had 3 different emergency room doctors "not see" my cancer on xray. The more you read on this board the more cases you will see of xrays not showing anything.I think you need to find some way to rid yourself of all the anger. It is a normal response but nothing about this b*stard disease is normal. You will need all your strength and emotions to deal with this disease and anger will do you no good.I can understand the frustration and anger but you need to find a way to move on and leave it by the wayside.Praying for us all.TBone
  14. Hi, I have had the loss of apetite and metal tastes since I had radiation and my stomach gets to feeling yucky when I smell food cooking.I have found that I can eat BLT's and enjoy them.I have a bunch of home grown tomatoes and I have eaten more since they have ripened. Also I find that cool food is easier to handle.Hot meals do not do it for me.Praying for us all.TBone TIP If anyone else has the problem with the smell of food cooking bothering them my wife found a household hint that works. When she cooks a big meal she puts a couple of spoons of vinegar in a pan of water and lets it steam on the stovetop. It really has worked for me.Sounds crazy I know.TBone
  15. HI, I completed 15 rounds of WBR on 2/4/04 and still have not overcome the fatique and loss of apetite.I am on chemo now and that probably contributes to all this as well. But the WBR really did me in.I lost 54 lbs since January. The inside of my ears still peel and look like they were burned.I did start walking a mile a day a couple of weeks ago and it seemed to help the fatique.I have gotten behind because of bad weather (If I walk it's gonna be outside). The only other thing I have found that works is to force myself to get up and walk around for a while.Sometimes the sleepiness leaves when I do this. But sometimes when I walk I come home and immediately go take a nap. This kind of fatique is something I have never experienced. It is not like being tired from long working hours. It is just there and I hate it.Praying for us all.TBone PS I have seen posts where people asked when they would get their hair back and mine just started coming back a couple of weeks ago.It is coming back pretty fast though. And I lost it on my 10th treatment. All of it came out at the same time.It was strange experiencing that as I had expected a gradual hair loss.
  16. HI, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father.Sounds like he had a great life and an incredible family.I pray for some serenity and strength for all of you during this period of grief.TBone
  17. HI Fay, We need to get that puter fixed. And quick.I depend on your posts for inspiration and knowledge.I know a bit about puters and can fix most things if you think it may be something I could lead you through.I would be glad to help.Praying for us all.TBone
  18. HI, I am so glad that Lucie has had some "feel good time" to enjoy.Congratulations on the anniversary..You got married when I was 4 years old and you look so happy together now in the photo. Not many people in this world experience that. When I was radiated for pain in my hip it took about 8 or 9 treatments for the pain to completely go away but when it did it never returned. So far it hasn't anyway.Enjoy the anniversary and the feel good time that she gets.Praying for us all.TBone

    An Update

Hi Dean, I am sorry that things have gotten worse but I know that you are prepared for it.What an inspiration you are to me.I am suffering the same feelings about posting.I log on and read posts and get bummed out and don't really feel like I can contribute anything meaningful. We get really attached on this board and I just feel terrible that we all had this happen to us.Praying for us all and for you to have more good days to enjoy.TBone
  20. Hi, I posted about my experience with WBR under the NSCLC forum a couple of months ago.You can search my posts and find it.I hope it helps. It had WBR in the title I think.Praying for us all.TBone
  21. Hi everybody, Thanks for all the concern and prayers. To summarize what happened with my ER visit ------- I woke up about 2am coughing up bright red non frothy blood. It was a pretty bad bleed for a few minutes and then subsided.Scared me so I went to ER.I was impressed with the doctor on call.He was an ER doctor but quite knowledgeable about cancer and chemo. He xrayed from front and side and did a whole bunch of blood work and determined that I had bronchitis. He also did a culture the stuff I was coughing up.He,and another ER doctor who just stopped in to check on me were both amazed at the clarity of the chest xray and had to ask me where the cancer was supposed to be.They could not see it.I want to note that on Dec 10 of last year I went to ER coughing blood .This was before my diagnosis. The doctors at that ER encounter did not see cancer either and diagnosed bronchitis. It was about 2 weeks later when I had the brain met symptoms that I was diagnosed with lung cancer. It is so strange to me that nobody has detected lung cancer via xray in my case.Is this normal? The CAT scans show it and that is how I was diagnosed. That and a biopsy.Boy did I ramble or what? It is Sunday morning and I feel kind of "new normal".I have a lab and chemo scheduled for tomorrow morning.I will be taking the ER results to my oncologist and see where we go from here.Praying for us all.TBone
  22. I am praying that the WBR works. You and Earl are indredibly strong and a real inspiration to this board.TBone
  23. Thanks for all the Happy Birthdays. It will take me a while to catch up on all the posts I missed while on vacation and with this recent server problem.I have been thinking about all of you and praying for us all too.So nice to hear from you Bob.Glad you are well enough to post.I had my 6th taxotere session on Monday and it got me down and fatiqued more than it has been.I was so frustrated for a couple of days when I couldn't get on here.I am glad that the problem is fixed and I thank all of you that worked so hard to get it back up.TBone
  24. Hi everybody, TBone is doing ok.This last round of chemo really fatiqued me and I still don't have an appetite.I didn't get on the puter for a few days because I found myself getting depressed every time I got on here.I just needed a few days to try not to think cancer I think.Me and my family and Tee Taa and her girls and some more friends are going to Florida after my chemo tomorrow morning. We are going deep sea fishing on Thursday and back home on Friday.I promise to post more when I get back. Thanks for all the concern.Love all of you and contiinue to pray for us all.TBone
  25. Great news Nancy.Praying for a speedy recovery.TBone
