  1. Welcome Renee! Sorry that you had the need to find us, but glad that you are here. The folks here are absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!! The most loving, caring group around. Hang in there and come back to chat with us often. There is a section for small cell lung cancer and also a general forum where you can ask just general questions. Oh yeah, don't forget the family members/caregivers section. If you feel the need for a good laugh, we have a just for laughs forum. (The girls pick on the guys a lot there, but it's all in fun!) Hope you come back often. Angie
  2. Hi Jane I don't know diddly about polyps, but I did want to add my prayers to the list. I pray that the steroids do their thing and that your hubby will be healed. Have a blessed day!! Angie
  3. Oh GOOD!! I thought about you and Earl all night. I was praying that there is another option for Earl besides hospice. Another prayer answered. Now, I will get to praying that the WBR works it's magic for Earl. Hang in there Ginny. You are such a great wife and caregiver. (neither of which is an easy job) Angie
  4. Thinking of you Fay. I hope you are feeling better. Angie

  6. Andrea I just got an e-mail from Shelly.........her sister has two "spots" of concern. She will be getting a biopsy. Although Shelly said that she wasn't up to posting right now, I know that she appreciates the concerns. Keeping Shelly in my prayers. Angie

  8. Dearest Ginny, I am soooo sad over this news. I just don't know what to say except that I am here for you if you need me. Like Connie, I wish I could give you guys a BIG hug and just make all of this go away. I hope and pray that there is something that can be done for Earl. I will keep you both in my prayers. Love, hugs and prayers Angie
  9. Ginny, dear, I am so sorry that you and your beloved Earl are having a rough time. I will certainly say a prayer for the both of you. I pray that this is just another bump in the road and that Earl will regain that twinkle in his eyes. Hugs and prayers!! Angie
  10. My Dad was the same way. It took me MONTHS to get him to his Dr. His symptoms became something that he couldn't ignore any more. His knees and ankles had doubled in size and he could barely walk. That's what got him to the Dr. Like Ginny said, if your Mom won't go, there's not much you can do. Keep talking to her about it. Look up some of the signs and symptoms of lung cancer. Print them out. Show them to your Mom. Maybe seeing everything in black and white will give her the push that she needs. I pray that your Mom will get checked out and that it is nothing. Best wishes! Angie
  11. Jane, I am sooooo sorry. I am thankful that you got to spend a wonderful day with your brother making memories. I believe that he waited for that day. I'm so sad for you. You have my deepest sympathy. May God bless you and comfort you during this time. Prayers for you and your family! Angie
  12. Well my goodness..............I think you had one of my days. I thought I was the only one who had those days. I hope everyone is feeling better really soon. Prayers for you and your family!! Angie
  13. Oh, I am jealous!! I hope you have wonderful time. You deserve it!! Prayers for a safe trip! Angie
  14. Welcome back! Glad things are falling into place for you. My Dad is gearing up to start Iressa in 4 weeks. I have already checked with our pharmacy...........Iressa is $66.00/day! $1980.00 per month. Geeesh!!! Thank goodness that Dad has a catastrophic clause in his insurance. He can not be out of pocket more than a certain amount of money. Chemo ate that right up, soooo..........the Iressa will cost us nothing. Praise the Lord. I have been sooooo worried about it. Hope your Mom responds well to the Iressa. Glad you're back! Angie
  15. Dearest Shelly I was sooooo hoping that what you feared was not true. First, let's just catch our breath. Take a deep breath. o.k. now, it is possible that it is not breast cancer. My mother in law had a mass to show up on her breast. She even had some inverting of her nipple. They did surgery to remove it. It was benign.( Please, God, let it be the same for Shelly's sister. ) Shelly, I understand what you mean by God hating you.............but, sweetie, I promise you that God does not hate you. God loves you Shelly! He has given you incredible strength to go through what you have been through. I'm like Fay A...............man creates lots of problems here on earth. I am praying for you dear! I will try to give you a call. We'll have a good cry together. Angie
  16. Thank you! I, for one, am not a nurse and enjoyed the "simple" explanation. A simple explanation for a simple mind! (Uh, that's my mind, not yours Ry!) Angie
  17. Dean and Gay Congrats!!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL evening!! Enjoy every minute! Angie
  18. David A. I know NOTHING about basketball, but I'm glad your team won!! We sure don't want you to be grouchy!! Congrats! Angie
  19. Cat Thinking of you.........I know how nerve wrecking test time can be. Best of luck!! Praying for you!! Angie
  20. First the joyful part.........Dad had a chemo treatment yesterday. The man sitting next to Dad struck up a conversation with us. Turns out this man was diagnosed in 1996 with stage IV adenocarcinoma!! YES, 1996!!! He achieved complete remission!! On a routine check up, they detected a tiny tumor in the upper lobe of his left lung. He had a lobectomy and is receiving carbo/taxol for micro mets, just in case. The oncologist says that remission is possible again. Right now, there are no signs of cancer anywhere. (chemo just in case) This news was soooooo encouraging to me. I just wanted to share it with you guys!! There is HOPE!!! He is an EIGHT YEAR SURVIVOR OF STAGE IV LUNG CANCER!!! Now for the sorrow.......my ex boss, for whom I worked for about 10 years, lost his wife to lung cancer yesterday. She was only 58 years young. Please say a prayer for that family. It is such a sad situation. Love and prayers to everyone!!!!!! Angie
  21. My Dad receives tagament(stomach), benadryl(for allergic reaction), decadron(steroid), Aloxi(really new anti-nausea drug that is supposed to last for seven days). All of these are I.V. drugs. Dad takes Kytril for nausea at home as needed. (this is pill form) So far, the only side effect my Dad has had is fatigue. (and a couple of nose bleeds) Best of luck! Angie
  22. A retired gentlemen went into the social security office to apply for Social Security. After waiting in line a long time he got to the counter. The woman behind the counter asked him for his drivers license to verify his age. He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. "Will I have to go home and come back now?" he asks. The woman says, "Unbutton your shirt." So he opens his shirt revealing lots of curly silver hair. She says, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me," and she processed his Social Security application. When he gets home, the man excitedly tells his wife about his experience at the Social Security office. She said, "You should have dropped your pants, you might have qualified for disability, too."
  23. The doctor said, "Joe, the good news is I can cure your headaches. The bad news is that it will require castration. You have a very rare condition, which causes your testicles to press on your spine, and the pressure creates one heck of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles." Joe was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He couldn't concentrate long enough to answer, but decided he had no choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself. As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life. He saw a men's clothing store & thought, "That's what I need - a new suit." He entered the shop and told the salesman, "I'd like a new suit." The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, "Let's see ... size 44 long." Joe laughed, "That's right, how did you know?" "Been in the business 60 years!" Joe tried on the suit. It fit perfectly. As Joe admired himself in the mirror, the salesman asked, "How about a new shirt?" Joe thought for a moment and then said, "Sure." The salesman eyed Joe and said, "Let's see, 34 sleeve & 16-1/2 neck." Again, Joe was surprised, "That's right, how did you know?" "Been in the business 60 years!" Joe tried on the shirt, and it fit perfectly. As Joe adjusted the collar in the mirror, the salesman asked, "How about new shoes?" Joe was on a roll and said, "Sure." The salesman eyed Joe's feet and said, "Let's see ... 9-1/2 E." Joe was astonished, "That's right, how did you know?" "Been in the business 60 years!" Joe tried on the shoes and they fit perfectly. Joe walked comfortably around the shop and the salesman asked, "How about some new underwear?" Joe thought for a second and said, "Sure." The salesman stepped back, eyed Joe's waist and said, "Let's see... size 36." Joe laughed. "Ah ha! I got you! I've worn size 34 since I was 18 years old." The salesman shook his head, "You can't wear a size 34. A size 34 underwear would press your testicles up against the base of your spine and give you one heck of a headache.
  24. A doctor was having an affair with his nurse. Shortly afterward, she told him she was pregnant. Not wanting his wife to know, he gave the nurse a sum of money and asked her to go to Italy and have the baby there. "But how will I let you know the baby is born?" she asked. He replied, "Just send me a postcard and write 'spaghetti' on the back. I'll take care of expenses." Not knowing what else to do, the nurse took the money and flew to Italy. Six months went by and then one day the doctor's wife called him at the office and explained, "Dear, you received a very strange postcard in the mail today from Europe, and I don't understand what it means." The doctor said, "Just wait until I get home and I will explain it to you." Later that evening, the doctor came home, read the postcard, fell to the floor with a heart attack. Paramedics rushed him to the ER. The lead medic stayed back to comfort the wife. He asked what trauma had precipitated the cardiac arrest. So the wife picked up the card and read, "'Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti - Two with sausage and meatballs, two without.'"
  25. Happy Birthday you big REALLY old putz!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!! Angie
