Hello everyone. I haven't posted since I first found out about my mom. After all of the tests, we now know that the cancer is in other areas than the brain and lung. We were originally told she had a 20% cure rate but now that has changed to 0%. She broke her hip 2 weeks ago due to a tumor. She had a PET scan done and the results showed a large tumor on her upper femor. She saw her onc the same day of the PET and he said everything looked good--but she should wait for the final report. She told both her oncologist and her radiation oncologist about the extreme pain in her leg; however, noone put the two together. She ended up breaking her hip---luckily while I was with her---and had to be put into an ambulence and underwent hip surgery the next day. I can't help but feeling burned that the doctors knew about the tumor, yet didn't bother to tell us. I have never sued anyone in my life, but seeing my mom go through all of this pain makes me angry. I wonder if we should seek legal advice?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for an oncologist in the Chicago area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My mom fractured her hip on Friday while we were walking into a restaurant--no fall at all. I was told the only way to repair this is via surgery. She underwent surgery on Saturday and began walking on Wednesday. A doc told me that the glue alone they use to install the post is strong enough to hold one up. My mom is only 55, so I believe your concerns for sugery on your grandma are warrented. I will keep her in my prayers. Feel free to email me. Sandra

Hello everyone. This is my first time here. I am familiar with cancer support boards as I frequently visited MPIP (melanoma board) for support the past six months--my sister passed away last Wednesday from the beast after six months of a heroic fight. She was only 37. On the day she passed away, my mother was rushed to the hospital due to stroke-like symptoms. Two brain mets were found and a craniotomy was scheduled for the following Monday. The final biopsy report isn't in (probably Mon.) but the preliminary reports state that it's non small cell carcinoma. Since it metastisized, she is an automatic stage IV. I was very happy to find this board tonight and look forward to sharing information with everyone. I realize the enormous worth this board has and truly appreciate and thank those who operate and contribute to it--thank you!
