I went on Iressa March of 03 then Tarceva January 05. I had a slight increase in my tumor 1/06 and I went off of it. So I had almost 3 years on the two similar drugs.

I know this is not a supplement, but stay away from grapefruit and it's juice. It seems that b12 is suppose to help with the rash, but check with your doctor. John

I have been only of the above at some point. Alimta was one I had more trouble with as the treatments went on. The nurses and the doctors were surprised I had trouble with it. It is suppose to be one of the easiest non-targeted chemo. Before I could have the last treatment, #5 I think, I had to have a four week break and antibiotics. So be careful with any fevers.

Larry, I remember them. In-fact they still have them, although it is usually in men's magazines accompanied by a garter belt. Does any one remember having to only dial four numbers to call someone in your town?

Yes, my hair did grow back, but was really slow. For example, I normally shave everyday, I could go every other day. Everyone is different. Most common side effects are rash from barely noticeable to unbearable, diarrhea, and hair grows more course. Dosage varies, 150mg - 50mg. Appearance of the rash is not proof it is working. Do not take blood thinners with it or drink or eat grapefruit. There is a website that covers it all.

I say no to the aspirin products. Tarceva thins the blood plus aspirin products can cause bleeding. There lots of prescriptions or Tylenol available to him.

Frank was the best example of someone from Pennsylvania. I was born and raised until 6th grade in Pa. I went back to Pa. to go to college in 74 -78. I do know what people are like in Pa. If you asked for help they are right there. If they ask for help the whole community shows up with a smile on their faces ready to go to work. Frank was like that, there to help when you asked, and never ashamed to ask for help when needed. Frank was a friend everybody had.

There is a huge void here with frank gone. He was a very valued member here. He was a good friend to a great number to all the people around him. He will be surely missed buy all. My heart goes out to Connie and her entire family. What a great man he was. John.

Pattie, Thanks for the update. Frank & Connie weigh heavy in our thoughts in this house. I am glad he is comfortable, Frank has been a friend for quite a while and I know if anybody can do this with good humor it is Frank. His friend John.

Frank, I was hoping this would get easier for you and Connie. You both are deep in our thoughts. I am glad the pain is getting a little lighter and controlled. I don't see how you can lose with any of those alone or in combination. You never know what will be the magic bullet and all of those could be successful. Right now I am real partial to Avastin since it is working so well. I hope whatever he does it gives him some shrinkage. Why is it only palliative radiation? Just curious.
