  1. I have had the experience of a left lung penumonectomy in 2001, I can admit that the whole experience is absolutely awful, but I am still alive. Unfortunately for me I am left in constant pain and I take daily tablets of tramadol to cope with it but I am still here which is the main reason I had the surgery, so go ahead and have the surgery life is for the living and if you are not here due to stupid mistakes in not going for it you can only blame yourself. as you are a long time dead paul.
  2. Hi There Lady salt. I had lung cancer in my left lung and had the lung removed in feb 2001. after the pnumonectomy the surgeon put me on 4 tramadol tablets dailey, and I have been taking them ever since. If I miss taking my pain killers in the morning after midday I am in real severe pain and go into a crumpled hunch back position due to the pain. I have seen a pain specialist and he said I could have an operation to put an electric pain relief pack wired up on my spine nerves, but as I take pain tablets to ease it I have decided to stay with the tablets and live with the slight pain, untill one day when I awake and the pain has gone.the good news is. I am still here on the earth, and I will suffer with the pain till it goes away.I was told this pain could last all my life?

  4. Thanks for the feedback on this pain subject , as When I hear of so many people who have gone through this painfull operation I get reassurance in my mind from this board, that I am not the only one with the pain and its NOT JUST ME who's hurting, as after a while you get to thinking its just YOU, but I don't know how you cope with one job tami never mind two, well lets hope that someday the pain stops!!!!!!!
  5. Hi everybody, its been a while since I last wrote so I have put pen to paper as they say, I have been reading and catching up with the new and the old and the very old guys that are still on the board. 2.1/2 years ago I had a pnumonectomy on my left lung that was due to lung cancer, and unfortunately I am still in really harsh chest pain, I take 400mgs of tramadol daily, otherwise by midday I am like a crippled old man and can't move very well with the pain, although I can't do much any way as I get out of breath very easily. I dont know how much longer I have to suffer with this pain, but I do know I am still here and breathing which thankfully was proberbly down to the man above ? as I have had friends who have not been so lucky. My main point is does any body on the board know how long it is after surgery that you can say you are cancer free or is there not a time period of being in fear of this dreaded ogor, I would appriciate any feedback, thanks

  8. I got this from a fellow pneumonectomy friend HOW TO TELL THE sex OF A FLY! A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Hunting Flies" He told her. "Oh. Killing any?" She asked. "Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied. Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell?" He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone."
  9. connie May you have a speedy recovery from your latest surgery, and get back to your old self, as you give a lot of people, hope for the future on this board with words from the heart , not only to the people of America, but to all the people of this world who read your messages of hope.

    chest pain

I had a squamous adenocarcinoma in my left lung and had to have a pnumonectomy in feb 2002. the operation went well and saved my life but I am still in pain having to take 400 mg of tramadol per day.its been nearly 18 months since the op, and the chest pain I have will not decrease as if I miss a dose of the pain killers -200mg in the morning and 200mg at night ,the pain comes on 5 or 6 hours later .and is tremendous. If anybody has had this experience I would appriciate any info. just hope one day in the near future it will ease, giving me a better quality of life. living in hope paul.
  11. I have just seen on discovery health TV (in the UK) a pneumonectomy operation of a lung cancer patient. WOW, the doctor who did the operation is a magician and I think his name is dr gopal who works in Toronto, Canada. I was so amazed with the operation as it followed me to a tee, my prognosis was exactly the same as the Lung Cancer patient. ( I didn’t get his name) he had the same squamous lung cancer, which was very close to the arteries and veins as in my left lung, and where, in the lung the cancer is most dr,s won’t operate on you with this, but will just leave it till you die as they assume they will kill you on the table if they operate Which really doesn’t matter as you will die any way with out the operation. But as in the TV operation dr gopal went ahead and did a fabulous job of removing the lung with the cancer in it, saving the mans life, not until now, did I realise what a major operation it is and seeing it in front of me brought it all back. And made me feel privileged to be alive.
