  1. I just want to start off by saying that I am here for you if you need to talk. My dad is 65 years old and was just diagnoses with Stage IV NSCLC with mets to his brain, kidneys, bone and spine. He has opted out of chemo treatments at the present time and is doing Radiation treatments to prevent the mets in his brain from causing seizures, blindness and a decrease in motor function. Everyday is a gift but everyday is also a struggle for me. I also have a hard time functioning at work and in my personal life. It seems that all I want to do is sleep and it takes everything I have to get out of bed in the morning and do the things that I have to do. My father tells me "Don't let this rule your life..." But how can I not when I know one day he isn't going to be there. I completely know what you are going through and would love to chat with you.
  2. My dad who was just diagnosed with Stage IV NSCLC has mets in 4 places in his brain and that dx came 2 weeks after initial dx. Granted the only reason my father went to the doctors was because he had a baseball size mass on his shoulder that was paining him. Who knows how long he has had cancer.
  3. Wow, I am overwhelmed with all the responses that I received and the warm welcome to the club I don't want to belong too. Looks like I have found a place where I can go and vent and no one will think ill of me. My dad is not on any form of chemotherapy as of yet, he is on his 2nd week of radiation therapy and seems to be doing well. Other than being tired, he is very zen about the whole cancer diagnosis. As for the rest of us (actually me) I am trying to deal with it the best I can. Being bipolar is not helping me any but I am taking it one day at a time and am trying to get as much information about everything I can get my hands on pertaining to Lung Cancer... I am glad that I have found you guys and cant wait to make friends and hear more success stories and get to know you. HUGS <3
  4. I am Heather and my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to his brain, kidneys and Spine. My mom and dad have decided that they are not going to do chemotherapy Intravenously but by pill. They have given my father 6 months to live and I am not excepting it very well. Is there anyone here who is taking the Chemotherapy Pill?? I am doing as much research as I can before my dad's next visit on the 19th...
