  1. Janet, I don't imagine I can say anything on here that has not already been said. I do know that when you are in the thick of it, it is nearly impossible to see the other side because your pain and side effects and sadness take over control. Someone mentioned possibly taking a short break to gain some of your strength back. Sometime gaining a fresh perspective, getting some sleep, and taking some You time can make a world of difference. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers. Sara
  2. Hi all, I have not been on the forums in quite some time. Things have been challenging and I am getting ready to start another new treatment tomorrow. I have been feeling really frustrated as every time we turn around it seems the cancer has spread somewhere else and I have been in pain and having to use oxygen almost all of the time. I had to quit my job and so I just haven't been very good at getting on here. Am excited to go to the Hope Summit though, am really looking forward to meeting folks and putting names and faces together! We had lots of tornadoes and storming here in Kansas over the weekend. Luckily, we did not have any damage in our area and stayed safe. The sun is shining today, which always makes me feel better than the cloudy days. Will try to get on here more frequently, it helps me feel connected, which I need. Hope everyone has a good Monday! Sara
  3. Have not been on for awhile, so sad to hear she is dealing with this. Lots of prayers going up for JudyKW.
  4. Welcome Cathy! Sounds like you have a very full plate with everything right now. This is a great place to come and have friends that understand how you are feeling and what you are going through.
  5. Cold here this morning too, have been at work an hour and haven't even taken my coat off yet. Sometimes it seems I am so cold I can feel it in my bones. This has been a tough week, lost a friends mother this week to breast cancer. Went to the viewing last might and there were lines of people down the street waiting to get it. She was dearly loved and will be missed by so many. Cancer just sucks. REady for this weekend, heading to LA next weekend to visit a good friend for 20 years, so excited. Judy, I hope the pleurasy gets better quickly for you, staying in and reading books sound like the perfect thing to do. Hope everyone has a nice Friday and great weekend. Sara

    FRIDAY'S AIR

Hi everyone, I am taking a quick break while I am at work to drop in the air. Shh, don't tell. We have great fall weather here, in the lower 70s with the sun shining. All the trees are starting to change colors and are so beautiful! We went on a hayrack ride the other day, it was awesome. Heading to Kansas City this weekend to visit with some friends. About an hour away, but leaving the dog with other friends, don't want her to get too lonely. She is not liking me being gone all day at work, she is all wound up when we get home at night. I can hopefully catch up on some of the air this next week, just had time to read todays. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Sara

    Sunday's Air

Good afternoon, nice and sunny here, supposed to get to the mid 70s. Stained the deck yesterday so John is out putting a second coat on now. Back at work doing about 30 hours a week, so far so good. I go back to my doctor on Tuesday, will probably start Alimta this week or next. All of the gene mutation testing they did, unfortunately, came back negative. Doing all sorts of fun stuff today-laundry, balance checkbook, dishes...Oh well, I am thankful that I feel good enough to be able to do some of these things again. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Judy, I understand where it can be hard with your Gilda's Group, remember that it is okay to think of what is best for you sometimes too. Praying is where I always turn, it seems to always work out that way. Happy Sunday everyone and have a good week! Sara

    FRIDAY'S AIR

I'm here, I'm here! Hello everyone, I am back at work, just part time for now, so trying to adjust to actually having a schedule again and that sort of thing. Sorry I have not gotten on for awhile, I am off all my chemo right now so trying to enjoy that while it lasts. Have had more energy so we have been able to enjoy the weather and get out and about. I please to spend some time catching up on how everyone else is doing as well. Thanks for asking about me, I am doing pretty well. Go back in the beginning of October when I will most likely st art Alimta. Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler temperatures, happy first day of Fall everyone! Sara
  10. Good afternoon everyone. Hot and humid here today, we haven't had humidity lately, just the heat, but today the humidity kicked in. We apparently broke a record yesterday with the temp reaching 110 degrees. Might be a bit of a culture shock to get to Seattle next week, it is getting down to the 50s at night, nothing like a 50 degree swing! Will definitely be taking layers! This heat sure does make it hard to breathe sometimes. I have definitely noticed a difference which has also added increased back pain, probably from breathing differently. Always something! Our fish fry was delicious, even though not healthy, fun and good to do every once in awhile. We went out in the boat the other morning to try and catch some more. The fish are hiding in this heat, even at 6am, so they weren't falling for it! Oh well, it was nice to be out on the lake, only ones out there, it was only about 87 degrees at that point and a slight breeze, so actually somewhat comfortable! Had chemo again yesterday, so no sleep last night from the steroids, hoping for a good night's rest tonight. They switched up my sleeping pills, so praying for good results! Judy MI, glad your nausea is better, it can be so debilitating! Sounds like you had a good day today, how fun! Bud, you be careful riding in this heat, that doesn't sound like fun at all. There are so many posts since I have written, I know I won't be able to respond to everyone's, but I sure enjoy reading them all. Getting excited so meet some folks next Saturday! Everyone enjoy your evening! Sara

    Sunday's Air

Happy Sunday everyone. Judy, I had trouble sleeping too, I feel like it has been at least a month since I have gotten a good night's rest. I may have to talk to my doctor about something heavy to knock me out while they keep me on these steriods. Speaking of healthy eating, my parents are driving here today and my in-laws are here so we are having a fish fry with fresh caught crappie and bass, home made french fries and corn fritters. We don't do that very often, so it is okay every once in awhile, right?? Other than that, hot here right now, so staying inside in the air conditioning right now. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday! Sara
  12. HI all, haven't been on for awhile. Did get on and read the air for yesterday and today. Finally starting to feel like myself again, have treatment again on Tuesday of course! We have my in laws visiting this week from North Carolina, which has been nice. Unfortunately they did not bring any cold weather with them to enjoy, but that's okay. Katie, I am with you, ready for those cooler temps in Seattle!! Will have to find my layers to take along! Thank you for thinking of me, it has been kind of a rough couple weeks, but getting better. Eric's pics are fun to look at, can't believe how much you have seen already! So happy for Judy's good news. I unfortunately have a heck of a time remembering these days, so I apologize for not addressing everyone that has posted. Hope the rest of the week goes well for you all-if the temps cool we are hoping to go out in the boat over the weekend. We'll see! Happy Thursday! Sara

    Another update

Yay, thank you for sharing this positive news! Yes, miracles do happen and thank you Lord for this. Enjoy your day! Sara
  15. Judy, sounds like you and I are in the same boat with our sleeping. I end up with a couple hours each night if I am lucky, sure is exhausting. I think I am having a hard time shutting my brain off. My one year diagnosis is coming up this Saturday and I am having a hard time getting my brain to turn off I think. Between that and chemo brain I am struggling. Boy the heat here is so ridiculous, you can't breathe if you are outside. Heat index up to 120, temps at 100, can't wait for some cooler temperatures in Seattle. Think we might try to hit a Mariners game while we are there too. Eric, sounds like you are soaking it all in, love hearing about your adventures! Looking forward to seeing you at the race as well and hearing your speech! Going to try and do some yoga here in a bit, working on getting some of my muscle mass back. Hope everyone has a great Monday, thanks for listening. Sara
