  1. ah Donna, I'm so sorry to read this . I truly and deeply remember you sharing your story with me when I reached out to the world wondering what was in store for me. I will always remember you and your inspiration. No one should have to go through what you are feeling. I'm so sorry to read this. You and your family and loved ones will have my prayers.

  2. Katie, we got him at Canine Rescue of Central Pa. Sue is VP there. Non-profit, no kill shelter. He came with the name Rocket which didn't work for me. So he's Roger. He responds to Whitey also. And Roger Nagurski too. I can't see the pic on IPad. Duh?

  3. Hi you guys, Happy Tuesday. I have been real busy but have followed you here some days. We took a trip out to Seattle to see our niece graduate from Vashon High School. It was great fun and a great reason to finally make that trip to see family. We loved Seattle and walked at least 5 miles each day all over the city. The weather was perfect the whole trip, not what we expected at all. Rain jackets and umbrellas never out of the bag.

Eric, I read your last post and I know you'll do the best thing considering what has been going on all these years. It has to be tough. We've been together here for 41 years and I can't imagine what it is like for you. Accept my best wishes in whatever direction you choose for both of you.

Janet, I think of your smile often and hope you're on a track to success with the new direction in your treatment. Diane, you are very sweet to volunteer and drive people for their treatments. I know what you do, I often thought of driving people too but I don't think my little pickup truck would work out so well. There are so many people who have lost everything to cancer and it's horrible cost. You are so right about many of us being fortunate enough to keep a home. I look around every day and know what my blessings are. I'm sure the folks living at that motel do too in their way.

We've been a little busy with some travel and have only one short trip to Chicago left on our summer plans. We will take a few daytrips around this region to visit some local sights we've put off for so long. We are in a heat wave here. Over 90 for a few days in a row makes a heat wave in Pa. I don't think these old lungs could take Texas or Arizona for long. I will be testing them in Florida in August. I'll bring the albuterol and Advair for sure.

I was reminded again that I have to stick to the bunny hill and skip the black diamond area. This time it was snorkeling. Stay in calm water. Had to be rescued. Bummer.

I know I don't post here much anymore, but I do read up a few times a week. You guys are all such great people, this group is so important to me in this continuing journey through survivorship. Have a great day and peace to you too.

  4. Yes Eric, that would be Pennsylvania please. Nice reflection indeed Lillian. Janet is so right about meeting a bunch of folks at the Summit. The first time I walked in the hotel lobby, Bud and I made eye contact and hello like we were already old friends. Same with Katie, Janet and others. This year was the same way, bumping into people that we've seen on this forum and Facebook. It really is a special thing. I missed meeting Judy Mitchell and I hated that. She gave me so much love here from the start and always wanted updates. Hard to explain the feeling of losing someone so close but so far at the same time. There is nothing like having a beer with Eric. (or 2 or 3 or) This awful disease tears us apart and brings us together again and again. There are very silver linings here and everywhere. Judy, Sara, Garry, Susan you are all still among us forever.

  5. Hi Janet,,Good luck with the dr. in Boston. I hope you get a plan that works great for you. I like your new bird. A friend of mine had those for a while. I remember alot of newspaper around the cage. Do they talk? My cat CHARLIE loves poultry. I'm sure the cat would spend his life standing by the cage saying" here birdie birdie." Have fun with your new pet. I wish more guys would write in here once in a while. It's getting to be a girls club. We have FUN too ya know.

  6. Hi you guys, What an exciting day for the kids at your house, Eric. Real police activity. A trooper stopped by our house this morning to ask if we have seen any suspicious activity in our neighborhood. Seems someone tried to break into the house next door. The crooks didn't even get in but were trying to pry open a front window. Carpenters were there this am replacing the window. Our dogs would scare away burglars with all the noise they make. However, a few pats on the head and our boys would probably lick them to death.

I don't think I ever had a hot buttered rum,Janet. I'll have to try it sometime. Really sounds good with the cold weather lately. I usually have a caramel latte or some variety of tea. Thank you Kuerig for the 1 cup maker, I love that thing.

I'm off to Phila. Tomorrow for another scan too. 8 weeks apart now instead of 4 months. I'll trade prayers with ya, ok?

  8. I also had a port. I had to have 26 infusions + I had to get liquids on the other days to stay hydrated. It got a lot of use. They were always very careful and I never had an issue. Then at home when it was over, I had to go to a local infusion center to have it flushed every 6 to 8 weeks. Finally, I asked to just have it removed. The surgeon did that with just novacaine. I did not watch. I can't imagine going through it all without a port, I understand that some chemos will "burn" veins. I think that just means they get so overused, it would really be sore. Anyway, I'm sorry for the infection, I hope that is solved. :D

  9. Hi there Eric and Janet, So sorry to hear about your buddy Robert, I hope he conquers this like he always has.

Janet, if I lived closer, I'd give you a hand with that bath. I know all too well how those things go, might as well do this, do that, it all adds up quickly. I'm sure it will look great when it's done. The baseboard will be the icing on the cake. Take it easy with this storm, stay away from shovels, please. The storm just grazed us, got an inch, that"s it. We are overdue for a big one, glad this one missed us. sounds like a monster of a storm. good luck everybody up there.

  10. That is a perfect description of CyberKnife. The table you lie on works in unison with the robotic movement of the machine and breathing movement. I had 5 sessions. It can get within 1/2 mm. of surrounding healthy tissue. You can find out more at CyberKnife of Philly.com .It was my miracle.

  11. Hi Mary, sorry to meet you this way. I too had a pancoast tumor. Mine was inoperable because it was into my T1 vertibra and a rib. It got all intertwined in the veins and nerves of the brachial plexus. I had the same chemo and radiation. I also had Cyberknife and it is just scar tissue now and has remained stable for 3 years. There are others here too, you are not alone. Welcome.

  12. Hi, I thought I would chime in. I don't have any technical or medical info to help you with at all. I don't think his case is all that strange. It sounds like the drs. have a plan and soon you will know how it's working. I don't think they need to advise you about how long they think he will live. They don't know that and can only base their comments on statistics. We are not numbers, we are individual patients with our own set of needs. It sounds to me to be very treatable and with a family around him for support, I'm betting on success.

  13. Nice to see you back Janet, You seem to be getting back to your old self again which makes me happy. I'm glad your dr. has more "tricks" up his sleave too. It's great to know there are options. Stay well and enjoy your family. I came home from Philly yesterday with the same report as you. Everything is stable, no changes even with the recent bleb blowout and surgery in the other lung. It's cold here too, plenty of wind and the sun is bright again. All is good.

  14. Hi Lysa and welcome. This site is full of wonderful caring people who do understand. Congrats on 1 year and for many more. It's 3 for me (nsclc.) I'm sure Katie will be happy to help you with your mission, there are many ways to help.
