  1. Hello everyone,

I just wanted to update you on my mother since we got bad news a few weeks ago. She started a new chemo two weeks ago and is tolerating it very well. Her liver function has improved slightly and she is feeling a bit better. The doctor feels that the chemo may at least be slowing the cancer down. He told us that if this chemo did work it would only prolong her life another month or two. I'm just glad that she is feeling a little better. She is now asking to see everyone as much as possible (kids, grandkids, friends) She talks about who she is going to see in heaven. It seems like she has accepted the outcome of her cancer. She is a fighter and has not given up yet but on the other hand she has a strong faith and knows that it may be her time to go. Thank you for all of your support. I pray for all of you daily.

    Hugs,

    Susan M.

  3. Hi Jason,

Welcome. I'm sorry that you have to join us under these circumstances. My mother also recently has recurrent SCLC. Her doctor is also going to put her on Topetecan. Her doctor only gave us a 20% chance of it working for her but your dad is much younger than her (shes 71 and she is in a very weaken state of health right now) so do not give up hope. I will keep your father in my prayers. He sounds like a very strong man.

  4. My mother is not doing well at all. Today we found out that she has mutiple bone metastases and her liver is failing. The doctor gave her the option of stoping treatment or trying one more round of chemo (different type) Her last chemo treatments did not work at all and he gives us a 10% chance that this chemo will work and even if it does it will only prolong her life a few weeks. She is in alot of pain. Please pray for our family and for my mom. This is a very hard time and I'm not sure how I'm going to get through this.

Thank you and God Bless all of you.

  5. Hello Tim,

I hope you will decide to join us here on the message board. Your wife is a wonderful person who cares deeply for you. This board will provide you with people who are going through the same thing you are and can relate to your feelings. It would be a honor to have you as part of our "family".

  6. Carleen,

I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. I'm saying a prayer right now. Keith is lucky to have such a wonderful woman in his life to help him through this. Please be strong and remember that we are all here for you and Keith.

    God Bless,

  7. Hello all,

My mom received her scan results today and the news once again was not great. She had growth in her liver mets and also growth in the mediastinal lymph nodes. I asked the doctor about ablation to the liver mets and he told me that she has to many small pea sized mets so that it would not help her. She has one met in the liver that continues to grow and is up to 3. She has only been off chemo for four weeks. Doctor started her on a new chemo drug today which she will receive once a week for four weeks and then a week off. She then will scan again. Mom feels fairly well right now I just hope that this new chemo is not to hard on her. I would appreciate any extra prayers we could get for mom. I continue to keep everyone on this board in my prayers.

    Thanks for all your support.

    Susan M.
