Hi Becky, And yea, I know what you mean about the pain and more importantly the not fully understanding the cause. , Real frustrating at times. I think your right on to get the additional scans. The PET should confirm one way or the other. Be prayin for ya girl!! I spoke to my medical oncologist on Mon. about mine and like you I'm waiting for the next set of scans which unfortunately will not happen until mid- March. I have to finish the WBR first. My pain though has not been getting worse, actually better if anything, but I am on decadron, was on celebrex, Vicoden and now liq. Morphine which my doc. told me are all anti-inflamatory type drugs and should have been helping. My PET did show a " hot spot" but my doc seems to feel it's inconclusive and since my left lung was removed there are large amounts of scar tissue to contend with. So I'm hanging in there too and trying to stay positive. After all, it's in Gods hands as I see it . I just need to do the leg work. So yea, were kinda in the same boat and I do think you got your oars going in the right direction!! It's just gonna take a little time which frustrates the hell at ya with lung cancer. Hello Don, So very sorry to hear of your dad, but also wanted to say that this beast is beatable!! I agree with Becky , she's good with the words and knows her dogs! And she right when she says " its the size of the fight in the dog" Bottom line is there is always hope!!! and we don't have to do this alone!!, By the way, I was also on Vicodin for pain and just went off of it in favor of liquid morphine. The vicodin was too tuff on the stomach and difficult for me to get down. Gotta be carefull with the dosage on morphine but I've found it too be much better. Hello Judy; First off, welcome to the group, and very sorry to hear of your husband's dx. I've gone to Sloan Kettering twice for second opinions and am glad I did both times. I would certainly encourage you to do the same. That extra measure of comfortabilty is real important and they do have some cutting edge stuff going on. Also, agree with Connie, especially with the CT scan of the brain and bone scans. Would'nt want any surprises down the road and there pretty simple and cost effective to do as a start. Usually, Sloan Kettering does like the PET scans too. You seem to be well informed which is really good, it's very, very important to be an advocate for your own health, or in your case your husbands. So keep it up!! It's good and will help. You may also want to check into Radiofrequency Ablation or IMRT radiation . again welcome, my very best to you and your husband, and you'll be in my prayers. God bless, be well and hang in there! Hi All !! Saw both my docs yesterday and got an update and changes to meds. Hopefully, I'll be awake this week for chat. I completed 9 of 20 brain treatments so half way, thank God, and was told to expect to lose my hair next week, BUMMER, so I got a hair cut, YEA, makes no sense at all, Guess, I just want it to fall out right. I also picked up an upper respiratory infection so I'm being treated with Levaquin for that. I'ts been kickin my butt the last few days but think we got a handle on it. This is my third winter of being a 1 - lunger and everyone has been tuff with respiratory infections, but still very gratefull just winter SUCKS So I asked my doc for a get away window so I could go fishin someplace warm. He asked where, I told em Central America He just smiles at me and says he likes my attitude and sets up another appointment for me to make sure I have all the meds I need before I leave. I reminded him of the family pic on the bridge in the rainforest that was taken 8 weeks after they took the lung. I really did well with this doctor. So looks like first week or so in March is doable to fish and fry the rest of the body. Can't wait! Ohh, and for anyone that has been struggling with the pain meds and stomach problems, I have been taken off the vicodin and put on liquid Morphine. .5 ML's down the throat, followed by a Hersheys chocolate kiss, klick yer heals 3 times and your not in Kansas anymore. Anyway, enough is enough, I just gotta enjoy every damn day I can cause Gods been good to me, so I'm just gonna keep on keepin on!!
