Hi Carol; Also wanted to welcome you, glad you found us and know one should have to go through this alone!!! They took my left lung over 2 and 1/2 yr.'s ago. It will heal but will take some time. Sleeping has always been a problem for me too, I was just sleeping on my right side and taking tylenol PM. It worked pretty good most of the time, of course that was well after the initial surgery. Yes, you do have much to be grateful for today!, we all do, it's called SURVIVING, and it's a good place to be!!! again glad your here! Hi all!! feel like cussin!! But I won't, wouldn't want to incurr the wrath of the Dave's remember humor is healing!! specially for me! Results of PET scan showed hot spot, (very small) in the mediastinum area. OK, so that sucks , also confirmed that I have only two small brain mets. That we already new about so thats OK. Now, whats going to happen with the new "hot spot", Don't know ???, Yep, that sucks. I swear, if the treatment for this disease did'nt make your hair fall out, half of us would pull it out anyway based on shear frustration!!!! So whats happening is that I got wired and called all my docs to discuss this as well as the person at MSKCC thats suppose to be handling the arrangements and insurance. Apparently, what I was told is not necessaryily whats gonna happen and it's gonna cost me some bucks, which is OK if I'm comfortable BUT I'M NOT!! So to make this short and sweet, I'm going for an additional opinion at Overlook Hospital, in Northern NJ. They're also a state of the art facility and perform both stereotactic radiosurgery as well seed implants, and WBR. They're also in the same network and group as my original surgeon and lung doc that removed my cancer 2 and 1/2 years ago. So I kinda feel I just questioned what needed to be questioned, I need to feel right about the treatment, so I'll keep ya posted. But I'm really anxious, Ya know the waiting sucks. So I'll end with " but for the grace of God here go I" And, really glad were all here!!! Hi Calton; Hope all is well, Regarding the ox, it was'nt that it was prescribed only at night for me, because I was told to use it any time I felt I needed it. But , It was suggested to use it at night because the body breaths differently while sleeping and uses / gets lets ox. In my case they removed my left lung and I was told to use the ox. at night because it would help allow the body to heal makes alot of sense to me, hope this helps. Hey Adam, Hang in there!! , yea your dads going through some rough stuff there. The ox. is a right move and should not only help the breathing but help him get stronger. I'm surprised he hasn't had it sooner. Tell him, it's very good for him and to use it especially at night when sleeping. I think your right on to question the doc.'s about why there not doing anything with the primary tumor. I think, and I may be wrong cause you know more than I, that his doc could be a bit more agressive with his treatment. I'm trying maybe too hard to put this nicely, but if I were in your shoe's or someone in your family's I would put it to the doc that way. If he does'nt like it then I'd get someone else. In any case, I'll be sending some prayers your dads way!! God bless and hang in there!! Hey Barb, Good to hear from you, was gettin a bit worried bout you, So very sorry to hear of your setback, but sounds like things are getting back on track with ya!! We do what we have to to fight this son of a ___ch. Looking forward to the new pic?? Like you, I've been having to listen to the body, they picked up 2 new friends in my head, couple of small lesions that were driving me nuts. So guess were both in for the fight again!! Were, kinda in the same boat, the beast came back to me also, got two small brain mets that've been driving me nuts. Also, getting a PET on Mon. and am on pins and needles waiting for my treatment to start. Good news is they can't find any evidence of any other cancer and the brain mets are cureable so I got a few body parts crossed and am doing a bit more prayin these days!. like your attitude, you'll do well, hang in there and keep us posted; God bless and you'll be in my prayers! Hello Beth. Welcome and so very sorry to hear of Bob's dx., Yes, this is such a terrible disease and turns everything upside down on us. First thing I wanted to say to you is to screw the odds, only God knows when it's our time and this disease is beatable. Many here are doing just that and the more your here the more you'll see it. So tell your hubby he's absolutely right when he says " we'll just see about it ". What you do need to do is to be an advocate for your our health. That means to be prepared, know the disease, ask questions, look for the best treatments get treatment at a cancer center by cancer doc.'s. It's a whole lot of being a pain in the a-- but it helps. And, I must say the best place to start is right here!!, We don't go through this disease alone. so again, welcome and you and Bob will be in my prayers.
