  1. Tess: It will be hard, as I have experienced the loss of my spouse also. I can only offer these words that I found to be of some comfort. People who say they believe in God think nothing bad will ever happen...people that really believe in God know bad things are still going to happen - they just know that he is always there to guide you through it." My prayers will ask that God grant you strength and peace. So sorry for your loss.
  4. Dear NowakowDA: I did a post under RAD Treatments. My wife had WBR and it did not work out well for her. That does not mean that it won't work out for your Mom. My wife was doing fine with the Chest treatments and even with the first week and 1/2 WBR. She then started getting extremely tired and started using a wheel chair. In retrospect, by that time, she would have had mets to the spine so its hard to say which put her in the wheel chair. I can tell you that it probably will cause a lot of fatigue; she will loose her hair; and it just seems to take something out of them. I hate to sound so pessimistic but that was OUR experience. The one thing that I have learned is that everyone reacts just a little differently to their treatments. What makes one person sick doesn't do anything to someone else. Hope this helps.
  5. Ginny: You were one of the first people to post when I asked for advice. I hate this for you more than I can express. My prayers are with you and Earl.
  6. I want to thank everyone for their messages and sadly inform you that Jean passed away Monday June 14. I also want to do something else though and let you know that we caught the diagnosis much later than we should have as Jean was helping her Aunt die of this dreaded crappy disease. I think she knew she was sick long before she told anyone. I say this because she is an example of what the statistics are made of and I want each of you to know that they mean NOTHING!!!!!!! Jean was not in great shape before she got cancer and was not receptive to taking treatments to begin with. DON'T GIVE UP YOUR FIGHT if that is what you believe in. Unfortunately, I could not get Jeat to fight but only now do I realize how sick she had been without saying something. This crap has to end. 53 is too young and every chance I got, if there were three people in a room I made sure that they knew one of us were going to get cancer. Money has to be taken out of the equation to find a cure. OK, I've vented. I just wanted to let you know that statistics mean NOTHING. By the way, she died of an infection. NOT the cancer.
  7. I certainly wish that I had talked with everyone sooner. Five days after finishing her last cranial radiation (which did take her down to the last drops of energy) Jean fell and broke her arm. She has been in the hospital ever since and now I'm being told that we are probably looking at the last six weeks of life. She looks like she could go any time. It's so hard not to be able to just make all of this go away.
  8. Thanks so much for the responses. I've lurked around here for a few weeks not really knowing what to do. It's just me and my wife here and I was getting a bit overwhelmed. You may never know how much you have helped. I don't feel so alone now. Thank you.
  9. My wife just finished 16 treatments to the chest and 10 to the brain. We were hoping to start chemo but she was so weak that she fell and broke her arm which has really set us back. My question is ....... is that level of weakness normal. She could not even lift herself out of bed without assistance.
