    pulmonologists

My Mom's pulmonologist is the one who insisted she have the ct and pet scans back in March and actually found that her cancer was back, suprising to us because she had just seen her oncologist 6 wks prior and there was nothing on the chest x-ray. He is a good guy and I trust him but I had a really bad experience with another one in the same office, so I think it is really a matter of whether you get one who wants to understand what is going on vs. treating current symptoms etc. I have gotten the best care ever from an immunologist who calls me every week that I don't see him to see how my breathing is - I guess it is in the luck of the draw. If you change, I hope you find a good one! Much Love, Amy
  2. Angie - I have been thinking about you so glad you got a chance to check in. I hope your Dad gets some relief soon and that you get to have some "me" time - we all need it - Hang in there - your attitude is amazing - my life isn't nearly as hectic as yours and I am having trouble coping . Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Much Love, Amy
  3. Well we just got back from St. Louis and hubby's team won their semi-final 2-0 and then lost in the championship game - it was a heartbreaker the final score was 3-2 in OT. The team they played this was their 3rd championship in a row and the refs were horrible - I was terribly obnoxious and probably didn't set a very good example during the game but there were some pretty obvious blown calls - even a fan from another team said that was some of the worst officiating they had seen BUT the boys played awesome and kept their heads and played this team closer than most and at one point I think everyone in the stadium thought they were going to pull out one of the biggest upsets this year. Pembrokehill Radiers are #1 in my book!!!!! Thanks to all for the good wishes, it means so much - it was an exciting weekend + I got to see my 2 yr old niece who adores me and she gave me lots of hugs and kisses and made everything a little better! I am trying to catch up on all that I missed! Much Love, Amy

    Good Answer

Smart-*ss Answer #1 A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her. Without missing a beat..she said, "Sir, I need to see your ticket, not your stub." Smart-*ss Answer #2 A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead." Smart-*ss Answer #3 The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. "I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said. The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could." When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket. Smart-*ss Answer #4 A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads, "Low bridge ahead." Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks around to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck, huh?" The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas." Smart-*ss #5 [the best for last!] THE TEACHER Smart-*ss Answer OF THE YEAR: A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. "Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury or illness, or a death in your immediate family but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!" A smart-*ss guy in the back of the room raised his hand and asks, "What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?" The entire class does its best to stifle their laughter and snickering. When silence is restored, the teacher smiles knowingly at the student, shakes her head, and sweetly says, "Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."

  10. Cindi - We also are in the process of finding legal representation - my Mom was on Vioxx when she suffered her stroke in September - right before they took it off the market. My husband has a lawyer friend that is trying to find someone reputable locally but he said he would also check into a couple of the class action suits for us as well. I will be happy to pass along information that we get.... Much Love, Amy
  11. (((((Peggy)))))) I am sorry I missed this. I cannot even imagine - I have been freaking out because my 7yr old has started calling me MOM and has talked about giving up her blankies well because MOM, I am just about too old for them - I don't even want to think about her being away from me. I hope he made his trip safely and as Elaine said - found comfort in spreading his wings (I really liked that!). Connie - LOL TOO FUNNY about your daughter. Much Love, Amy
  12. My husband is a high school soccer coach and tonight his team beat their arch rivals in the state quarter finals to advance to the final four this weekend! This is a team that was in a rebuilding year and was not suppossed to make it this far. I am so proud of my hubby and his team!!! GO Pembrokehill Raiders!!!!!!!!!!! We will be heading to St. Louis to cheer them on!

  18. When I was at the Dr last week (for my first case of bronchitis of the winter season ) and the nurse wanted me to start on some vitamins called Juice Plus - well my immunologist didn't seem to hip on them esp. since they are pretty expensive (~$170 for a 4 mnth supply) he thought a regular multi vitamin would suffice. So I thought I would pose the question to those of you who take supplements... What, if anything, do you take to boost the immune system? Does a regular multi vitamin work or is there something more specific to take. Looking for any suggestions... Thanks in advance! Much Love, Amy
  19. Prayers coming your way. Hoping that David gets the magic treatment that will allow him to come home so that you both can get some rest. Much Love, amy
  20. Amy - I so glad to hear that your Dad made it through surgery alright. His situation is so similar to my mothers - she had her left lung taken out as well as several (can't remember how many) lymph nodes that looked suspicious. She did great and had an amazing recovery and I hope for only the best news for you and your Dad in the coming days. Always in my thoughts... Much Love, Amy
  21. This apparently was a real memo sent out by a computer company to its employees in all seriousness. It went to all field engineers about a computer peripheral problem. The author of this memo was quite genuine. The word is that the engineers literally rolled on the floor! Especially note the last couple of sentences.) "Re: Replacement of Mouse Balls. If a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Units). Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel. Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist off method. Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge. Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each person have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should contact the local personnel in charge of removing and replacing these necessary items. Please keep in mind that a customer without properly working balls is an unhappy customer."
  22. Angie - I am sorry to hear that your Dad is having a rough time. Hugs and warm thoughts coming your way for Dad and for you. Glad to hear that there are some options - keep us posted! BTW - Love the new pic - what a beautiful family!!! Much Love, Amy
  23. Well I think it finally time for me to turn in my extended hall pass. I have been lurking alot the past couple of weeks but could not bring myself to join in and am still not sure how much support I will be but I sure do need it but I will give it my best shot. I finally saw a therapist yesterday and as the subject of Mom came up she asked what type of cancer - when I replied lung - you will never guess what ? I got next - not did she smoke but rather is she still smoking I replied no she has never smoked and I would not wish this on anyone - smoker or not - nobody deserves to get cancer. I think that coupled with the look on my face got her attention and she somewhat apologized. Other than that I liked her but am somewhat disturbed that someone in her position would have that view. I hope she doesn't have to treat any cancer patients. I know I have a lot to catch up on and will do my best. Much Love to you all, Amy
  24. Mom called early this morning and was on the way to the ER - she was in alot of pain and had bright red blood in her stool this morning. I wasn't able to go (I have been absent from work a little too much lately and was reminded of that recently ) They think she has an infected kidney stone and are going to keep her for a few days. I feel soooo bad that I couldn't be there but at least she is resting now. Hopefully I will be able to get down to see her tomorrow but she is over an hour away so I just don't know. This sucks - I want off this ride.
