  1. My PET scan was an open machine with overhead camera...no prob. For MRI, they laid a towel over my eyes...did the trick for me. (Spent 90 mins. in the MRI once...ack.) Wouldnt hesitate to ask for a med if I got panicky tho. Rich B.

  2. heheh...yea, I bought one at neighbors yard sale...dragged it into basement, no assbly required. All I need is someone to drag me down there and make me pedal the thing. Jus hate excercise. Oh well, glad you got it and are using it better than me. Ten miles..?? doubt that mine totals that much. Take care...Rich B.

  3. Yea, dunno about the procedure, but isnt it a shame that a lotta docs these days are so da-n arrogant and unfeeling! Guess they stopped teaching compassion (bedside manner) decades ago. Ive found I jus gotta keep searchin till I find one thats a little more human, so youre doin the right thing. Good luck...Rich B.

  4. Yep..as stated, you have to decide whether to give yourself every possible chance to swat out any stray cancer cells, which is what the chemo is supposed to do.

And, another point,..since it is optional treatment, you can simply stop if it becomes too harsh for you....like I did. Had one full dose of taxotere, then stopped.

So, little to loose by giving it a try, and never know, might save your life.

Good luck in whatever you choose...Rich B.

  5. Thanx to all for taking me back...:D I realize I shoulda gave a heads up before my "vacation", but I guess by the time u need a break, u realize youve already been on it and just wanna stay there awhile. :(

Back now tho, and feelin relatively ok, considering...Rich B.

  6. Hi; thanx all. ztweb; no, sorry I dont know anything about Mayo clinic...I had surgery in Aberdeen, live nearby. Didnt have any special needs, so it was adequate for me. Good luck to you too.

Yea, sorry to those who worried about my absence...just hadda take a break. Thanx for your caring concern tho.

  7. Been away for awhile,(emotionally), this is my first post for quite awhile. Guess I just needed a break so I could forget my probs...go into denial for awhile. heh

But doin ok, and had to get back to reality. Missed the chatter too...

Like Debi and others, Im goin on 2 yrs., since surgery. Had a number of scans this year...all are clear so far. Just workin on the shortness of breath and back pain still. Making some progress on the back pain. (Would u believe a chiropractor has helped much more than any of those hi-powered docs?) Yep...

Ill try to post more often now...sorry I was on extended "vacation". Take care...Rich B.

  8. I had Jamies experience...one trmt. of taxotere, got pneumonia, then had anxiety attacks from the steroids. (Prednisone, etc.) Had to stop treatment there, but was only adjuvant chemo after surgery, so not like necessary chemo.

Lost some hair in following months, but not enuff to show...but only one treatment. Good luck...you might tolerate them much better, never know. Rich B.

  9. On the flip side; I had an epidural injection for back pain in the middle back. I didnt get a lot of relief from the pain, and I had a severe anxiety reaction to the steroids, which is what they use...sent me to emer. room twice for anti-anxiety meds. Noone mentioned this side effect before hand, of course. They did list "poss. "spinal headaches", dunno if inj. caused it, but I had migraine headaches all winter...still have some, tho less frequent.

So be aware of possible side effects, and weigh them against the benefits, I would advise.

Im right back where I was before with the pain, even worse as it slowly progresses ea. yr. I seem to get more relief with Tylenol Arthritis, or Darvocet (prescrip.) as required. Dont wanna take them forever tho, so have more appts. with pain management clinic, to try to find some relief with minimal meds. (Some Docs recommend Aleve, too...over the counter.)

Good luck, know the pain is no fun...Rich B.

  10. Im a little tardy seeing this thread, been running lately, havent checked in much, so didnt know. But I second all the above...hope u get answers and treatment that helps, and gets u back home soon. Take care and best of luck to ya...Rich B.

  11. Happy to report my CT and PET screening scans were clear...whew! Other than the usual effects of surgery, they were otherwise "unremarkable". The slight hoarseness I was worried about is probly just the added pressure of the shifted media putting pressure on the vocal nerve.

So, Im over 1yr. out, and so far, so good. Will post more later, and update my profile. Good news! Good luck to all...Rich B.

  12. Hi; another thought, are u taking steroids before and after chemo? Steroids made me cry like a baby...and Im 61. hehe Might be the steroids too, they make some of us a bit crazy. Might check with doc, of course , on any of these symptioms. k..take care..Rich B.
