Bill
My wife's weekly monocyte count has consistently been in the 1 - 2 % range. She has been on chemo ( Gemzar / carboplatin ) since June. This morning her monocyte count was 15 %. All of her other WBC values were consistent with past readings ( usually low side but within normal limits ). Has anybody experienced a jump in monocytes like this ( esp. while on chemo ) ? If so, do you have an explanation ? Thanks much.
chloesmom
Sometimes those injections they give you to boost your blood counts really cause some components of your blood to overreact and overproduce for a week or so--if that's the case, and it was with me and my platelets, they should be back to normal in a week or so.
