Jackson
I have been reading the book "Beating Cancer with Nutrition". I know that book has been talked about here before. I am thinking of having my Mom start taking selenium and milk thistle. Is anyone else taking milk thistle while on chemo or know much about it? It is supposed to be good for the liver and since she has liver mets I hope it might help.
gail p-m
No disrespect intended but my dog is on milk thistle. My dog has had liver cancer and the vet thinks very highly of milk thistle as a way to provide support to the liver! Gail P-M
Alisa
I'm on milk thistle and selenium (among many other things). But my herbologist/dr. didn't have me start until my chemo treatments were done. He had me on another protocol (some chinese herbs, I can't remember exactly which ones) while getting treatments. But because of possible interactions, whatever is decided on, make sure the onc knows.
gail p-m
Forgot to mention the other things that the vet has my dog on to support her liver. He has her taking Vitamin E and Sam E which is from the health food store. Hope this helps.
Jackson
Thanks Gail and Alisa for your feedback. We'll be talking to her onc about both the selenium and milk thistle to see if she should take them but he usually isn't too informative when it comes to supplements.
