Guest randa'sdaughter
It's been a while since I posted anything. I've been "lurking" alot, though. And, do send prayers daily for everyone. My mother has had an all clear report for about 9 months now. She underwent chemo and radiation, including PCI. She had been doing great until last week when she started getting dizzy. Many years ago, she had a problem with inner ear problems so she is chalking this dizziness up to that. She has an appointment on March 7th to see her ENT. Do you think I should insist that she at least call her oncologist? If she won't call, should I? My dad and I both think that we aren't over-reacting, but my mom will. She hasn't had a brain scan since she finished up PCI - last March. Any feedback is gratefully accepted! God Bless, Paula
Don Wood
She could have an inner ear episode. She could be dehydrated (is she drinking enough fluids?) It could be many things. I would vote for calling the onc and letting him know. Any symptoms should not be ignored, even if one is tired of seeing doctors (we know that feeling). sharyn
I also say... call the Onc... it is bettter to be safe than sorry...
Andrea
I would call the onc also.......my mom and I were talking about something similar recently.........about 1 year before her diagnosis she had a terrible inner ear infection which caused major dizzyness. We were "laughing" that if she had a simple inner ear infection now, she would be seeing oncologist instead of her internist. It could very well be nothing, but can't hurt to see what oncologist says for peace of mind
kimmek
I would not have probably even thought of calling an ENT doc. Call the onc.doc, then they can refer your mom to the ENT if need be. Please have your Mom call. Was she not on a 3 month recheck or even 6 months? Please let us know Kim
anniem
Call the Onc.
Guest randa'sdaughter
Thanks y'all. I'm going to call her in a few minutes to see how her day has been going. My father drove her to work this morning. (She answers the phone at a doctor's office so she does have the luxury of sitting most of the day.) I'm going to insist that she go on and call her onc. She has had chest, ab, pelvis scans, but no head since last year. I think she has had these scans at least 2 if not three times. I can't believe that I have lost count - I used to be so good at being the secretary! Thanks again. I'll keep y'all updated. luvmydog2
Funny this question should come up today. I have had dizzy spells when I stand now for some time. I ask for a MRI of brain last month. It was the first one I ever had and it came back normal. I am still dizzy. I blacked out and fell yesterday (at least my wife says so). I did hit the floor when I got up to go to bathroom. Blacked out I am not sure. I don't remember stumble or anything like that. My suggestion is by all means have it checked. I have not called my onc yet but am seeing my PCP next week. Best of luck to your mom.
SandyS
Surprise, surprise - there's actually a VIRUS going around that causes dizziness - I've had it too. And since it's a virus, they can't give you anything for it (my doc gave me Antivert for the dizziness, but they knock me out so I can't really use them.) Worst news - it can last 3 to 4 weeks......... Hang in there - but of course see your docs! Hugs and prayers, SandyS
berisa
I don't think it's a over-reaction. Be cautious is good to detect early mets (if any), strongly recommend to get the brain MRI/Scan. Hope your mom is fine.
