OMG those are adorable. When our middle daughter was small we had a few pony parties for her birthday. This ended up getting us in big trouble because she wanted riding lessons at 5. Next to hockey and figure skating, I don't think it gets any more expensive than having a kid in riding...

Oh Curtis - she's just precious!

Is she really in to horses? Both of my daughters (now 21 and 15) were into horses and had some pretty nice horses to play with. (Breyer horses, if you know what those are). I'd love to share them with Katie if you want to send me your address to sandy@iibiz.com........

She looks like she was "born to ride", Curtis. :) What a darling little girl.

I know things aren't quite as you planned them...but I bet you have a ball raising this child....and surely, her mother's love will remain as tangible as possible with you providing the link to that.

Somewhere in our family pictures, I have a shot of our oldest around age 5-6, on a pony in front of our house which was IN the city of Portland, OR. So even in a big city, the photogs used to come around with a pony. Hard to resist....that combo of child and pony, isn't it?

Glad you could share these pix of Katie. She's adorable.

The horse was rented by day care. She likes riding ponies in a circle at daycare, and in Nacogdoches, there were horses in the field behind our backyard, and we would feed them carrots or apples once a week or so. But she hasn't shown a gigantic interest. As I was driving home from school, I heard this song by James Taylor that he wrote for his daughter when she was four years old:

Whenever I see your smiling face,

I have to smile myself

Because i love you (yes, i do)

And when you give me that pretty little pout

It turns me inside out

There's something about you, baby (i don't know)

(chorus)

Isn't it amazing a man like me

Can feel this way

Tell me how much longer

I will grow stronger every day

Oh, how much longer

I thought i was in love

A couple of times before

With the girl next door

But that was long before i met you

Now i'm sure that i won't forget you

And i thank my lucky stars

That you are who you are

And not just another lovely lady

Sent down to break my heart

Isn't it amazing a man like me

Can feel this way

Tell me how much longer

I can grow stronger every day

How much longer

No one can tell me that i'm doing it wrong today

Whenever i see you smile at me

No one can tell me that i'm doing it wrong today

Whenever i see your smile at face my way

No one can tell me that i'm doing it wrong today

No one can tell me that i'm doing it wrong today
