nikkala
I am reall just sounding off here so hope not to offend anyone. In November my Gram was so sick with "pneumonia" finally got the official diagnosis in December. adeno stage IV extremely advanced. Told chemo would only prolong maybe 3 or 4 months. Gramma was so brave when she decided she wanted no treatment and never questioned it. Instead we spent our days and nights talking and laughing. She crocheted a beautiful afghan for me and we made all her funeral plans. Although the last week was pretty tough she still had me laughing right up till Sat night. Sunday morning at 6:40 she died. I was holding her hand and telling her how much I loved her. I feel so honored to have had that precious time with her. What a final gift she gave to me. This is the reading she chose for her memory cards. When I Must Leave You When I must leave you for a little while Please do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years, But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name, live on and do all the things the same, feed not your loneliness on empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, and I in return will comfort you and hold you near: And never never be afraid to die, For I am waiting for you in the sky! SBeth
Lisa, I think that your post was a beautiful tribute to your Grandmother and the love you had for her. In the end, you were both very lucky to have had each other to love. I hope that sweet memories will help ease the pain of your loss.
