Letting Go Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Hi, I posted here last year when my mom was first dx with sclc. She went thru one round of chemo, remission for 3 1/2 months, then they found "something" in the liver. They are doing a needle biopsy on this tomorrow. She has done pretty well so far but this is so concerning. Could it be that it is scar tissue? I am just upset because she is paying for this huge family vacation to disneyland etc..... I worry she is giving it one last go then boom, she will be gone. I cannot get this out of my head and I need to just enjoy the time. So.... no holds barred. Is it really bad when something shows in the liver? Any other experiences? They stopped chemo until this is figured out. I am wanting to feel better here. Help Quote
Remembering Dave Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Jamie - what results came with the needle biopsy? Karen Quote
Letting Go Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 Hi, Well the radiologist said that the area was too vascular so they were NOT under any circumstances going to do that. He said also that there had been very little change in size. I am not sure if that means that he doesn't think it is cancer or if it just isn't growing quickly. In any case, they sent her to have an MRI and she is to see her onc. on monday or tuesday. She is also supposed to start chemo again then. Gosh thanks for asking! Jamie Quote
Larry Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Jamie there is not a much stronger and resilient organ than the liver. my wife was first dx'ed with it in lung and liver and it was put into remission for 5 month's and now brain and spine. I hope and pray your fear's are unfounded..... Quote
paddy Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Jamie, Try not to worry too much until the results come in.Sometimes people find that these spots turn out to be benign cysts. Lets hope this is the case with your Mom. Prayers, Paddy. Quote
