URGENT-Need help - and advice

My sister in law,Kim (37) diagnosed with nsclc -6 mos ago -tumors in brain and on lung and kidney - has had chemo, radiation and has been told inoperable - tumor on lung pressing on vocal chords and she cannot speak now - she is being treated at Univ Tennessee in Knoxville Tn - the oncologist says there is nothing else that can be done - I need HELP to get her somewhere else - Please send me any places where someone haxs had help -

RUN do not walk to the nearest Cancer Facility. You need to find a second opinion NOW!! I am not familiar with the area you are in so you need to post this message in the general forum and see if anyone there can refer you to someone. Good luck, prayers with your sis, Cindy

First suggestion: edit your post and remove your phone number. Safety first!

Second suggestion: PM dadstimeon and see if he can set you up with some websites to search for cancer centers near you.

Seek the second and third opinion. At 37, giving up just isn't an option.

I pulled this name from an earlier post. She had given the name of Dr. David Carbone a doc who has a special interest in lc. I think she said that he was in the Woodlawn area. At Vanderbilt maybe.

You need to help her to fight this. I agree... 37 is too young. Please come here for support for yourself and for your sil..

You could try NIH,Dr David Schrump, the thoracic surgeon in the Cancer Institute.

He has taken on surgery when other doctors wouldn't. He's especially patient when getting tumors out/off of tricky places involving tedious dissections.

If Nashville says inoperable, call Dr. Schrump. He helped Kasey when Fox-Chase said she was inoperable. I know it's a little farther, but our tax dollars support him... and he's world class as a lung cancer surgeon.

I agree! If Vanderbilt says "No" call the doc at NHI/NCI. Heck....call them tomorrow anyway...just in case. There's nothing wrong with lining up more than one source of help. Nothing at all.
