Angie
I'm new to this site....what a supportive place to be! My dad was diagnosed in May with pleural cancer. Anyone diagnosed with this particular type of lung cancer?? His doctor has said that his condition is inoperable. He started chemo on May 21. With two rounds completed, we will find out tomorrow if the chemo has helped. My dad hasn't been sick or lost any hair. In fact, he's gained three pounds since first diagnosed. (Has he really been receiving chemo??) He also walks a few times a week at the local Super Target (says the temp is so cool and comfortable during these hot summer months!) My dad was given 16 months, but my dad's doctor said that he is in excellent health and relatively young and that many older people bring down the average. My dad has such a positive attitude and it helps all of us!! I feel like I know so many of you. I was so touched and inspired by "Mrs. Mike". I am so thankful for this site. kimblanchard
Angie, Welcome to our family. It sounds like your dad is an excellent candidate for beating this dreadful disease. Keep your faith and hope. Blessings to you, Peg
Marlon
Angie, Pleural cancer was the closest way of describing my mom's cancer. She never had any tumors found, just cancer cells in the fluid around her lung. Her lung was collapsing because of the fluid. There is hope, because my mom went thru chemo and after 7 months, a surgeon removed her pleura, and sent the tissue to the lab and they said there was no more cancer on the removed pleura. Don't be discouraged because there ARE surgeons who know how to operate on pleural cancer, because most oncologists automatically say "inoperable". We found one near Chicago.
