lisajones4 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hi. My name is Lisa. My mom was diagnosed with limited state small cell lung cancer in August 2004. After being in remission for less than a month, the cancer showed up in her adrenal glands just two weeks ago. This has been completely devastating for all of us. The hardest part is seeing the fear in my mom's eyes after this second diagnosis. It is something that will never be erased. As many of you know the awareness and funds for lung cancer is scarce. I have joined forces with two other friends, both of whom lost fathers to lung cancer, to organize and put on a run to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer ... so on September 10, 2005 The Chicago 5K Lung Run, a run, walk and rally will make its debut in Chicago. This race will raise awareness and funds for lung cancer. The Lung Run will take place on the Chicago Lakefront and will begin at 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit Women Against Lung Cancer. For more information, runner/walker registration, company sponsorship opportunities, or to volunteer, please visit our website at www.lungrun.org. It is still somewhat under construction and will be finished by next week. You can register at www.lungrun.org or at signmeupsports.com We have had some wonderful sponsors who are helping make this race possible. Please pass this information on to others who might be interested! Quote
Doughnut Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hello Lisa. I'm sorry about your Mum - this is so very hard to deal with isn't it? Congrats on organising the run. It's a little out of my way, so I won't be there, but I'm sure you'll have a great turnout. Hope you'r Mum's ongoing treatment is as easy on her as possible and hope to see more of you here. Dee. cindi o'h Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Hi Lisa, Sorry about your Mom's news. There is much hope for survival for her even though she has just been delivered some upsetting news. There is treatment available that can help to keep the beast at bay. We have many survivor members who have been whooping butt on the sclc for quite awhile. I invite your Mom to come to meet a few! You and your friends are doing an amazing thing to raise awareness and funds for lc. God bless your efforts. Cindi o'h Quote
