sophiesdaughter
My neighbor who has been very kind and supportive about my Mom, just found out that her Mom also has stage IV lung cancer, and she would like to get her treated at MSC. Can anyone recommend a good lung cancer oncologist? They still don't know whether it is SCLC or NSCLC. Thanks, Rana
bunny
Dr. Mark Kris. he's been amazing with my mom. after we started with him, he made New York mag's top 100 doctors list. for what its worth. the wait may be long, though. I am pretty sure he's the head of the department now. http://www.mskcc.org/prg/prg/bios/172.cfm we haven't had a "bad" doctor at MSKCC, so you're in good hands no matter what. her surgeon is the most compassionate, understanding medical practitioner I have ever met, as well as a phenomenal surgeon. and gorgeous. http://www.mskcc.org/prg/PRG/bios/639.cfm (darn, no picture.) good luck! xoxo amie
Alisa
I see Dr. Naiyer Rizvi, who I believe trained under Dr. Kris. I find Dr. Rizvi warm and relaxed, and patiently answers all of my questions. As for treatment, I switched (due to insurance change) oncologists after i was NED, so, for now, i just have follow up care/scans, etc. But I like him a lot. battleofbrooklyn
My mom sees Dr. Lee Krug, who is Sloan's small-cell specialist, though he also treats non-small and mesothelioma. She loves him -- and his nurse, Denise, and his chemo nurse, Chuck. Those folks are just as important as the doc since you see/talk to them more than you see the onc. I've got nothing bad to say about the place.
