Darci
I have a quick question - my FIL's RBC's were low yesterday when they did chemo, so they want to give him a shot of araesp every two weeks. Are there any side effects to this? Has anyone else taken it? They want to give him one of the shots right before Thanksgiving, and they are hoping to go to their daughters house for thanksgiving (3 hour drive to MN) and we are hoping that he won't feel too crummy to go! Thanks for any input!
Don Wood
Aranesp or Procit are common red blood cell boosters during chemo. My wife had a shot of Aranesp this week and will continue to get shots because of borderline RBC count. She has had no side effects from it. Andrea
My mom had and has (still does it sometimes) no side effects from it
Patkid
Brian loves his arenesp. It really helps his breathing and his overall well being. He has never had any adverse reaction to it at all. P
MurielK
I had procrit in 2003 and aranesp in 2005. Thought the aranaesp was more effective and it's given every 2 weeks, rather than every week. No side effects from either. Good luck Muriel K
daggiesmom
I had Procrit shots for about 3 months after my chemo ended. I was very anemic and they helped tremendously. It does take time for Procrit to bring up the cell count. I didn't have any side effects. I thought it was a very good treatment for anemia. KatieB
My dad took arenesp before each chemo treatment. It helped him alot and there weren't any side effects.
RandyW
DEb gets an aranesp everyweek to bring counts up. They help with her energy level some and elevate RBCs. Aranesp works longer than Procrit but they are the same other than that.
