Guest gottaquestion Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 My mom has been put on TAXOL. Not a combination of chemos, just TAXOL, because she got so sick with two chemos. Anyway, she has extensive sclc and I want to know how good is the TAXOL? Has anyone here had it? Does it work? What are the side effects? Do you think this is going to help her. She has a spread to her liver and brain and spine and always the tumors shrank while she was on chemo and now her doctor is going to try this. Appreciate any help you can give me. Quote

shelliemacs Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 Taxol worked great for my mom. she had it with Carboplatin though. it worked quick and well. when it stopped though after 5th treatment though cancer came back. she is going back on it next monday. side effects were rough after 4th and 5th treatment, but it worked so its worth it. Andrea B. Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 My mom has been on the combo Taxol/Carbo for 11 treatments now for NSCLC. Initial tests show it is shrinking the tumors. We will find out more next week. The side effects have been minimal for her. She is starting to get some tingling in her hands and legs (one of the side effects is nerve damage), but overall she has handled it well. Quote
