Ann Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 I'm with Maryanne. I love White Christmas by Bing Crosby!!! It makes me think of my childhood and all the magical Christmas times. PS...My Dennis loved Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. See...told you he was a hoot! Quote
dadstimeon Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 WOW so many--have to go with "So This Is Christmas" John Lennon Quote
Suzie Q Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Greensleeves (What Child is This?) and O Holy Night, even if it is a bear to sing - I don't have that much vocal range! ~Suzie Quote
Treebywater Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 This year, Sarah Mclaughlin's version of Gordon Lightfoot's "Song for a Winter's Night" (although I do like old Gord too) and "Have Yourself a MErry Little Christmas" but only with the original words and the 'muddle through' line. I can be enthusiastic about 'muddling through.' Quote
ginnyde Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 The only songs I know all the words to are Christmas Carols and What Child Is This is the ring on my cell phone. (I tell everyone it is Greensleeves when not Christmas) So I almost all of them are my favorites, but especially O Holy Night and Do You Hear What I Hear. OBTW, I do know all the words to Happy Birthday and Tantum Ergo (That's for Catholics who remember the mass in Latin) Quote
bunny Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 god, rich. how could I miss that one? does George Strait sing this Greensleeves song, because I've never heard it... Quote
Ry Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 It is also "This is Christmas" by John Lennon, but I think the actual title is "Happy Christmas (War is Over)". I just love the lyrics...not even Yoko singing back up can wreck it. Quote
Frank Lamb Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Granma got run over by a reindeer and White Christmas (Bing Crosby) There are many others as well. However by a week after Christmas I will probably be growling at all of them.(after a while enough is enough) Quote
Jyoung20 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Santa Baby. GOD BLESS!! Jamie Quote
MilliBr1 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Have your self a Merry Little Christmas. Quote
Don Wood Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Don: O Holy Night Lucie: Silent Night Quote
Leslie221 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I love that John Lennon song, too. Old standards include: God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, Ave Maria, and Greensleeves. Not very original, but there it is! Leslie Quote
Snowflake Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Being a Navy brat and a one-time Army wife, the song that can put a lump in my throat is "I'll be Home for Christmas". Most especially the last line "...I'll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams." I also like a song that is getting lumped in with the Christmas groupings lately, Alabama sings it, "Angels Among Us". Favorite instrumental song is "Carol of the Bells" - a nod to Bellringer. Quote
Debi Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Hate to sound maudlin, but one of my favorites (there are so many!), has to be Blue Christmas by Elvis. Believe it or not, "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" came out the year my grandmother died which was in November. So everytime the damn song played, I would start bawling. All of us in the family found it funny that we were crying over this stupid song(my sense of humour is inherited) so we would be laughing while we were crying. Quote
shineladysue Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Silent Night will totally bring me to tears as I remember bringing my youngest son home from the hospital on Christmas eve (born on Dec. 22nd)... my neighbors got together with their relatives and came caroling outside of our living room window and sang Silent Night to me as I stood there with our newborn son in my arms. I will never forget it... Sue Quote
Cindy RN Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Silent night Oh Tidings of Comfort and Joy This one I think is fairly new-new to me anyway. Mary did you know? Quote
lilyjohn Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Silent Night and Lori Morgan has a medly of Christmas songs out. It is so beautiful it makes me cry. Quote
JimW Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Ever since the Bob Hope Christmas show in Sattihip, Thailand in 1968 - everyone sang Silent Night at the end of the show - sad but good memories. Ever since then I loved that song and had huge respect for Bob Hope. Jim Quote
