eppie
Two nights ago my Dad had SOB in the night. His x-ray did not reveal any new tumor activity or excessive plueral effusions...some liquid which he . gave a med for....I'm thinking some sort of diuretic. The good news is he will start dad on a new drug called Abraxane made by Abraxis. I hope he will response will be even better to this med. It is actually taxol but in a way that is more easily transported. For instance, Taxol is bonded to the chemical in castor oil. This Abraxane is bonded to the protein Albumen...which is commonly found in eggs. To my simple mind that has to be a plus. Delivering this systemic drug in by attaching it to a protein that is easily handled versus that with castor oil which the body tries to reject....think laxative. Well, I am hoping it will be for the good. ALso, it must be a good sign that this company has the very same name as my family's all time favorite album by Carlos Santana!!!! It makes me feel like dancing. Much love and healing to all on this message board, Eppie
