teresag Posted January 14, 2006 Share Posted January 14, 2006 Oxycodone is not morphine. It is an opiate analgesic, like morphine, though. They may have switched her to get her onto an oral preparation vs. IV morphine. Or maybe because of constipation or drowsiness w/ the morphine. Another reason for the switch may be to wean down her opiates if her pain is decreasing. ellakc2 Posted January 15, 2006 Share Posted January 15, 2006 Oxycodone is time released, which help pain control. It is not morphine. It is a very strong pain killers,but it keeps the drug in your system and you only have to take it very 12 hrs. instead of every 4 to 6.
