Compassionate Use

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried to get a drug in clinical trial under "compassionate use?" Charlie does not qualify for that new EGFR drug that is starting in Phase II clinical trials. I want to know if there is any chance that he could get it under this program. What I have read says that you have to get the doctor, the drug company, the FDA and the IND to agree and approve it. If anyone has any experience with this program, I would be very interested in hearing about it. Take care.

Tina,

John started Iressa under compassionate use. Our cancer center has one nurse that deals with all those particulars and set it all up. I can't really tell you what was involved in it-- she did it in a day so seems it wasn't a huge problem. I hope this is possible for Charlie-- let us know.
