Hello!

My name is Darrell. I'm 44yo and have been diagnosed with small cell carcinoma lung cancer. It has spread to my left hip and lumbar spine. I was diagnosed about a month and a half ago. I live in Parkersburg, WV.

So many new, shocking, scary and life changing things have happened in such a short time.

I'd love to talk to someone who has the same symptoms or close to it.

thank you so much for being here.

Darrell

Hi Darell,

Sorry you had to find us but you will find we are a group of very supportive and knowledgable people. I personally do not have an answer for you as far as small cell goes. But you will get answers as there are many who do have small cell.

Just know that there are treatments out there and LC is not a death sentence. One you start treatment you will accept this more and will feel better.

Hi Darrell, I too am one who knows not much about small cell, but just wanted to take a moment and welcome you to our family. You will find many many here who do know exactly what you are going thru and they will be here, and be happy to hopefully answer any question, fears you might have.

Again Welcome!!

Hi Darrell and welcome. Those of us who have been through the diagnosis stage know exactly what you are saying. So many tests, so many appointments, so many new doctors and specialists, so much new info and so much emotional stess. It is tough. Hope you have some good support from family and friends also.

What treatment is in place? What have they done for your hip and lumbar spine? Have you started chemo? Do they plan to do preventative brain radiation?

Keep us posted on how you are doing. Donna G

Welcome Darrell. I would suggest that you post in the small cell forum for others with small cell to PM you. Maybe you could exchange phone numbers with another member and talk. I know it is scary--we're here to help.

Darrell,

I am very sorry to hear of your dignosis. My husband

also was dignosed with small cell Jan. 2005. The

1st couple of months were crazy, but you will fall

into a "routine". As you will see in Alan's profile

we did have some hurdles to get over, but Alan is

doing very very well. In fact he just had a CT scan

and his tumor is Stable.

many prayers to you and your family

Hey, Darrell,

We are all in this pot together. At first it is overwhelming and the emotions just keep on coming. After awhile ya get used to it.

What are your biggest challenges right now?

I am glad that you found us or we found you! Welcome. Happy to share experiences.

How much treatment have you had?

Welcome !!! You will find alot of caring people here. I too am pretty new to this site and just reading stories and hearing success's gives you hope !! The one thing I can suggest to you is to keep positive thoughts at all times, yes there will be times of negativity and depression, go with the moment and then move on !!! Keep positive .....it is as important as treatment. God Bless, Linda

I promise that I will fight as hard as I can.

I also promise to make you proud of me.

If this cancer has done anything good to me, it's made me realize how many people love me. I am so incredibly lucky. I took it for granted when I was healthy. I knew I treated people right, but I never knew to what extent until there was no more room in my hospital room for more cards, flowers or what-nots. I think about that every day.

You all have made me realize that I'm not in this by myself. I helps to cut down on the million different ideas that I hear everyday from diets to physical therapy.

Thank you all again.

Darrell
