I was gone for 4 days

I was gone for 4 days due to an infection in my right foot and not having a high enough white blood cell count to fight it. So I spent Monday through today in the hospital getting IV antibiotics. my white cell count was not responding to the infection one bit. I was put in reverse isolation, eveyone who entered my room had to wear a mask. I cannot eat raw fruits or vegatables or use black pepper. Somewhat limits my appetite. Everything has to be well cooked. When I go out in a public place, I have to wear a mask.

Oh the sacrifices one has to make when trying to beat cancer.

sorry about the infection, Dave. If we lived in Japan you would fit right in wearing your face mask...when I lived there it was considered the polite thing to do if one had asthma, a cold, or had respiratory problems of any kind.

Hope we reach that point here in the USA. When my counts start to drop I'm going to wear the mask. Period.

Hope the foot is on the mend very soon.

You can hang in Dave. Why don't you draw a Mouth on the mask. You can have one with a smile and one ugly one and switch them according to your mood. We cancer folk must maintain a sense of humor if we're to beat this thing. I'll be thinking of you.

Hi, David G., David C's wife here - I hope you're doing a little better each day. That sounds like an unpleasant, if not scary, way to have to go through the day, not to mention the hospital stay. Will pray for your infection to clear up so life can get back to "normal" (whatever that is!))

God Bless,

Karen, Dave and Faith Chapman
