RandyW
Mr. Wallin and Representative Harrison: Mr. Wallin, thank you so much for your email and thank you Representative Harrison for forwarding it to me at the American Lung Association of North Carolina. I believe a Lung Cancer Research license plate is a great idea, one the ALA of NC has recently discussed. In fact, at a recent conference I spoke with several of my colleagues in VA about their plate and learned how they went about making this happen as well as how they promoted the plate. From my understanding of the process, we first need to have a sponsor present draft legislation. I am not sure if we can do this during the short session, but since several plates get added each year, I would think this is possible. Once the request is passed, we need to have 308 applications and payments to purchase the plate prior to even printing the first one. Mr. Wallin, I would love to draw upon your group for support of this bill, so please stay in touch. Representative Harrison, I am glad to draft legislation for the plate and am thrilled that you are interested in sponsoring! Thank you so much for your interest and sharing your idea with the American Lung Association - and for your interest in raising much needed funds for research! I will be in touch with you both.
