GrammyBear
Hi all I wondered if anyone happened to catch the Warren Zevon special on VH1 and what your thoughts are.It showed him struggling to record his last record before begining treatment for inoperable lung cancer. I thought it was a brave and down to earth profile. He had some interesting things to say about his struggle, not to mention some great new songs. I also wondered if anyone knows of his current status, how he's doing?
teresag
I thought it was pretty good, too, although I didn't see it all. He has a great attitude: keep going, live each day as if it's a gift. He's a survivor, IMO, like the people here. Apparently almost a year ago, docs gave him 3 months. Another of the well-intentioned blunders of medicine. Since the record just hit the stores, I'm thinking the special was made fairly recently, but I don't know how he is doing now.
Donna G
Did a google search. Found an article that said on August 28, 03 it had been one year since WArren Zevon was told he had terminal lung cancer with Mets to the liver. It talks about his smoking etc for 30 yrs and quit 5 yrs ago . but listen he has Mesothelioma last I heard that was caused by asbestos not smoking. Now everyone reading that article will think its caused by smoking. It sounds like he is still a busy guy and also the grandfather of a new set of twins. they are airing the show again 9/10 at 8PM eastern. The article also mentioned he was upset at the Drs that had told him how long he had to live, felt they had no business doing that, they didn't know. Donna G
Warren Zevon passed. Listening to the news this AM they mentioned that he lost the battle. He had a Minnesota connection, he had been at Jesse Ventura's inauguration bash 4 yrs ago and they "sang" together.
Lisa
On Warren's last album.... I have been a fan of his since the late 70's Keep Me In Your Heart written by Warren Zevon & Jorge Calderón, Zevon Music, (BMI)/Googolplex Music (BMI) Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath Keep me in your heart for awhile If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less Keep me in your heart for awhile When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun Keep me in your heart for awhile There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done Keep me in your heart for awhile Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for awhile Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for awhile Sometimes when you're doing simple things around the house Maybe you'll think of me and smile You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse Keep me in your heart for awhile Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams Touch me as I fall into view When the winter comes keep the fires lit And I will be right next to you Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream Keep me in your heart for awhile These wheels keep turning but they're running out of steam Keep me in your heart for awhile Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for awhile Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for awhile Keep me in your heart for awhile
