my favorite prayer, this time of year

well it's that time again - my favorite season, where I am especially happy to be a religious mutt. I get the joy and miraculous rebirth of easter in my heart, and the miracles and redemption of passover, too. plus matzoh bri (which I will make for anyone who wants it, it's heaven) AND chocolate.

so there's this half prayer/half song that occurs towards the end of the sedar which repeats over and over the hebrew word "deyenu" which means "it would have been enough".

the idea is that any ONE of god's interventions would have been miraculous and 'enough', but we (in the sedar, the jews but to me, everyone) have received miracle after miracle, and there is no end or limit to god's love...

so here's mine:

if my mother had only survived LC

if we'd only found one great doctor for mom

if I'd only made one friend here at LCSC

DEYENU!

if I'd only been freed of my addictions at such a young age

DEYENU!

if I'd only met the man who is my anchor to the world
