purplelady47
My appointment at Moffit Cancer Center for a second opinion has been scheduled for June 1st. I have all my slides, films and medical records, so I am ready to go. I am quite thrilled that they were able to get me in so quickly too! Thanks everyone for your suggestions about a second opinion. This appointment will be a huge help for me. Gratefully, Pam in FL

cindi o'h
Hi Pam, Congratulations on deciding to "do" something. If nothing else, this will appointment will probably give you more information on your disease. Sometimes when I was going from app't to app't and wasn't feeling as if my needs were being met, I always came out of there with information that helped me to put together a more cohesive picture of what was going on. Whatever happens at this appointment, it will be a good appointment. I am sure you will have lots of questions. As you think of questions to ask between now and then, do not rely on your past good memory to serve you. Jot them down in one place as the questions come and they will be ready for your appointment time. You are seeking knowledge and staring the beast down. Great luck! Don M
Hi Pam: I think you will find getting a second opinion at a major cancer center to be a good experience. I went for a second opinion at Swedish Cancer Institute. They are a major center. I was impressed with the team approach and the way the different disclipines worked smoothly with one another. I saw 4 specialists within the space of a week and felt I had a good experience. I ended up doing image guided radiation for a right lung met.
