cindy0519 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Thought I had found this here but after searching of this board cannot find it, so I thought I would share it in hopes that it might bring others the comfort that it does me. It makes me cry but also comforts my heart because it seems to have been written about our "journey" with lung cancer, Dad's death, and his new found freedom from pain and suffering... GOD'S GARDEN God looked around His garden; He found an empty place He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw that road was getting rough and the hills are hard to climb So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered peace be thine. It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone For part of us went with you the day God called you home. Quote
RandyW Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 That was so Beautiful Thanks for sharing it with us. Quote
jdjenkins Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 We had a poem quite similar to this one at my Dad's funeral. It really does fit a cancer patients journey. It always makes me cry too. Denise Quote
Carleen Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 That's the exact same poem I used in Keith's Memorial cards for his Wake. It seemed so appropriate. Quote
Andrea B. Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 It is the same one I used for my mom's memorial. I have sinced shared it with many friends. I find it comforting. Quote
stand4hope Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 It's also the poem we picked for my dad's memorial service, and I posted it here in late June or early July in 2004. Like Carleen, it was just so appropriate. My dad was so, so tired. Thanks for reprinting it. I loved hearing it again. Love, Peggy Quote
