Linda661 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I couldn't resist this funny and I dedicate it to all our hardworking volunteers and contributors for the recipe book: Grandmother's Meat Loaf Recipe A recent bride called her mother one evening in tears. "Oh, Mom, I tried to make Grandmother's meat loaf for dinner tonight, and it's just awful! I followed the recipe exactly, and I know I have the recipe right because it's the one you gave me. But it just didn't come out right, and I'm so upset. I wanted this to be so special for George because he loves meat loaf. What could have gone wrong?" Her mother replied soothingly, "Well, dear, let's go through the recipe. You read it out loud and tell me exactly what you did at each step, and together we'll figure it out." "OK," the bride sniffled. "Well, it starts out, 'Take fifty cents worth of ground beef' ..." GCFL.net Quote
luvmydog2 Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Love it Linda. Perfect for the THIS and THAT Section. I posted it there so if anyone object PM me and I'll remove it. Quote
lilyjohn Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 I'll have to look and see if I have it still. I did have a recipe my mom sent me for Sweet Potato Pie. It started out like this "boil enough potatos for two pies" That is how Mama cooked and it always turned out great. I can remember watching her make a cake from scratch. She measured nothing and it always came out wonderfull. I make her yeast bread the same way now. Once I got her old wooden bowl I never had a problem with it again. It has to be that the bowl is educated Quote
kamataca Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Yeah...my grandma's receipes called for pinches of this and dashes of that...lots of "enough"s... one called for a 'half an egg shell of milk". Simpler times, huh? Kelly Quote
