James Ferdinand Bennett, Jr., 61, of Charleston, the husband of Karen Loraine Yager Bennett, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2006. He was born in Overland Park, KS, a child of James Ferdinand Bennett, Sr. and Helen Kirkpatrick Bennett, on Thursday, March 1, 1945. Mr. Bennett honorably served our country in the United States Navy for over twenty years, retiring in 1983. He was currently an Electrical Technician with Scientific Research Corporation. Mr. Bennett was an avid HAM Radio Operator, call sign K4KAE and loved to go fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of almost forty two years, Karen L. Bennett; two sons, Michael J. Bennett and his wife Jessica of Charleston, Brian E. Bennett and his wife Kelly of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Bennett, Cooper Bennett both of Charleston, Elise Bennett, Lily Bennett both of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Charles Bennett of Overland Park, KS and two nephews, Brett Bennett of Lawrence, KS and Blake Bennett of Overland Park, KS. The relatives and friends of Mr. James Ferdinand Bennett, Jr. are invite to attend his Memorial Service with Military Honors at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Rd., Suite 504 North Charleston, SC 29406 or to the Hospice of Charleston, Inc., 3870 Leeds Ave., Suite 101 North Charleston, SC 29405.
