Don
Well its that time again for me. In August 05 I was lifting some heavy objects and I pulled both groin muscles. Well little did I know but I also crushed both of my hips. I have had more test on my leg muscles looking for different side effects of chemo/steriods. Finally in May the mri of my hips showed that the ball joints of both hips had been rusting away. The doctors finally decided it was the decardron steriod that I had taken during chemo treatments and the gamma knife radiation. In Jun 06 I received a total hip replacement on my right side and it really work wonders. Well next Tuesday I go in for my hip replacement on my left side. Go in on tuesday morning and back home on thursday. It's not to bad but does take 8-12 weeks recovery. This is just a reminder to all that the drugs that heal us also can hurt other parts of our body. I guess the one thing that I would like to get across to everyone that it is worth all the pain to just have another day with those we love so much. It gives us a chance to change, a chance to enjoy all the cool things that we take for granted and a chance to get closer to our Lord. Its not his will that we have cancer but it sure makes him feel good when he sees our faith in accepting the bad and dealing with it. So what will you do with your tomorrow? Thank the Lord and put a smile on his face no matter how bad you feel. God Bless Don

karen335
Don Thank you for sharing information with us, what an inspiration. Would like to see you post more, you are always so positive... I see you had Gammaknife 3 yrs ago. May I ask how many brain mets, location and size. Everything clear since then? Did you have any side effects or memory loss? I had one met back in 2004, surgically removed then SRS. Worked for two yrs. came back Feb. 2006 surgery again didn't work so I just had Cyberknife last week. I had five fractionated treatments, it was almost 5cm in the Cerebellum area. It was on the brainstem, feeling great and glad I did this treatment. The Lord has truly blessed us and I give glory to Him. Don't stay away so long and keep sharing your valuable information. We need people to share their experiences more often. This is how we learn and get well. IF IT'S NOT SHARED NO ONE KNOWS THE NEWEST TREATMENTS. Praying for complete and successful surgery for you. Thank you Don God Bless, Karen
blaze100
Hi Don, Those hip replacements are supposed to be very painful. Are they worse or same as lung surgery I wonder? For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17 Barb
MEA
Hi Don, Prayers for a successful surgery and complete recovery. God blessing are truly amazing...this week I saw a double rainbow, early this morning a magnificant orange moon. Since my husband's dx, I find such peace and comfort in such sighting. God bless, Mary
Don
Karen, I only had 1 brain met and the gamma knife blew it away. I did not do WBR. I for some reason cannot agree with radiating my whole brain if no cancer is there. Current mri shows clean. I might have some short term memory loss but chemo causes that too or it might be me wanting to forget things. Good excuse anyway. Barb, the replacement hips are better than dealing with the pain of the bad hips. Recovery is hard in trusting the new parts to hold your weight but you get use to it. I will be walking the next day for sure. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes but I will ask you to pray for those that need help in having faith for our Lord Jesus Christ. They need our prayers to comfort them during this time of need. This is a very hard stuggle for all of us and while we listen to our doctors, take our meds, exercise our body and our minds we must not forget to exercise our faith with the Lord. It is this faith that heals us from the inside out and makes us feel comfortable and safe. The flowers, rainbows, seeing a small child smile, holding a strangers hand in the emergency room, that is where we heal ourselves. Dont feel sorry for me that I have cancer but be happy for me that maybe from the cancer I found a better faith in our Lord. Someday we will all be healed in his faith.
