kreed70
Researchers Report New Cancer Treatment November 2, 2006 MEMPHIS -- U.S. scientists have developed an effective treatment for the eye cancer retinoblastoma, which they say causes no side effects common in standard chemotherapy. The scientists at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., demonstrated in a mouse model the new, locally applied treatment that greatly reduces the size of the tumor. Furthermore, the researchers say their treatment also appears to be suitable for certain forms of breast, lung, prostate and colon cancer, and is simple enough for widespread use, even in countries with limited resources. A report on the work appears in the current issue of the journal Nature. Copyright 2006 by United Press International
