wiesia
We have noticed that after cisplatin my father coughs a lot less than after gemzar. Why would that be ? Now, two days after gemzar, he has pain in the chest. Just where the tumor is he is saying. His temperature seems ok (37C). My mother is really worried about this pain. Is it normal to experience pain at the site of the tumor during chemotherapy ? Thanks, wiesia
icbn
No, I don't believe it is normal to experience chest pain or tumor pain after chemo. Please call your Oncologist and report this. Make sure it is not a heart attack.
marym
I never had pain at the tumor site. Just to be safe, I would call my doctor. Mary
RandyW
Also could be a pleural effusion, which is fluid around the cardiac sac which would feel like a heart attack. Any case call onc and see what to do for sure. Hopefully not the ER trip. Sending prayers and keep us posted.
blaze100
Hi Wiesia, It could just be indigestion but...I would worry about the heart too. You know the chemo can cause problems with the heart. Also radiation. It is something that needs to be checked out. Barb
Frank Lamb
I have had pain at the tumor site and have it again this time, right in center and pressing against the esophogus.Have not begun chemo yet so they say the pain is from the tumor itself.
