WASHINGTON (AP) - Battling cancer steals a lot of time, according to the first study that tries to put a price tag on the time that Americans spend being treated for 11 of the most common cancers.

The study adds up the hours spent sitting in doctors' waiting rooms, in line for the CT scan, watching chemotherapy drip into veins and other treatments - and puts the tally at upwards of US$2.3 billion in the first year of treatment alone.
