Guest mrs
about or expect when a diagnosis comes of lung cancer please redirect me if i am in the wrong forum. My father, 74 with severe COPD and maybe heart problems, maybe lc is going in for tests and so he has only been diagnosed with the COPD, but what do I look for test wise or question wise when they start exploring the cancer possiblities. I hear words like nuclear test and I am going to look it up but. any guidance for me?
bobmc
Hello Mrs. First, just wanted to say, that your jumping the gun a bit but still I certainly understand your concern. The standard method for testing is a CT or CAT scan. This usually will determin if there's a mass ( possible tumor), however It may or may not be cancerous. If a mass is found then a biopsy usually follows to determin if it is cancer. I'm really, really simplifying this for you cause it can get complicated. I would suggest you do some research but not until your dad is diagnosed. Just dosn't make sense to put yourself through all the worries unless you absolutely must. Hope this helps God bless and I'll say a prayer for your dad! Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"
