futbol_11
Hello All, My Dad was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer Stage 4. He by no means has a lot of money. My parents have always lived week to week when it comes to their finances. I have recently taken over all of their bills and find myself trying to think of what to do when his short term disability ends. Not sure if he can go back to work, and they will not be able to manage with my mom's income alone. I just need to some programs that might be of help for a low income family. Something that will cover some medical expenses or even some living expenses. With all that my Dad is going through right now, he still worries about his financial situation. Now more than ever. He always tells us that he does not want us to get hit with all these bills when he passes. Any information would be greatly appreciated. dadstimeon
Sorry to hear about your dad. Below are some sites that might be of help. Also ask where your dad is being treated what programs they have. Hope this helps. Prayers for the best. http://www.cancer.com/linksforCategory.jsp?Category=26 http://www.cancercare.org/ http://www.plwc.org/portal/site/PLWC/me ... 730ad1RCRD https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php
Marco Jo
Is your Dad eligible for long term disability or SSI? I would try calling your local chapter of the Cancer Society. They have been very helpful to us. Best of luck. Sorry you have to worry about all of this. Peace, Marco Jo
Tom K
I am not an expert, but I understand everybody with stage 4 lung cancer is eligible for Social Security regardless of age. You may want to contact them.
ernrol
Sorry to hear the reports. You don’t have to accept the 6 months that they gave you. There are many survivors that have had a similar cancer that your dad has. There is always hope. Try the places mention in the other posts. When you find out what treatment he needs you can contact the drug manufacture for help. I would get a second opinion if at all possible. Stay positive, Ernie
teriw
There is financial aid information on Lance Armstrong's web site also, including a phone number you can call for assistance: http://www.livestrong.org/site/c.jvKZLb ... Connie B
What ever hospital your dad is dealing with should have a Social Worker you can work with and get him set up on some kind of assistance. Or talk to the doctor or nurses, or clinic's. They all have the information and should be able to direct you.
lewellen9581
Does he have insurance to cover his meds? If not, go to www.needymeds.com. almost every drug my Daddy was on was on there, it even paid for his Duragesic patches that were lmost $3000 a month!!
